- Saw this earlier today which of course led to hours reading my diaries. Funny how words can put you right back in those emotions. The good, the bad, and the wistful.
- This time on MY LIFE IN THE PAST! The secret diary of Lucy Worsley, aged eleven-and-a-half. Unbelievably wholesome, and a little bit lonely 😀 lucyworsley.substack.com/p/the-diary-...
- Posturer says he wants to cut through the posturing. God give me patience.
- Absolutely maddening. And I wonder how many of these parents who refuse to vaccinate their children, are vaccinated themselves? As in, they'll be OK, but they are not giving that same protection to their children. Facebook should be banned. www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...
- I'm reading about the Hydro building & how security guards apparently are not enough after an 18-year-old went crazy. Now they need guards with pepper spray and handcuffs? But they are able to lock the building down & patrons can access the restaurants from the outside? 🤔 /2
- People with mental health issues are everywhere. In the skywalk, in malls, walking down the street. WPS stand & stare at their phones in Superstore 🙄. If Hydro can lock the building down, I honestly don't think dudes with pepper spray would make me feel safer. It's all performative in my view.
- I spent over 3 decades walking all around the downtown. Alone. Once I stumbled into a homeless encampment. It felt like I inadvertently walked into someone's house. Do you have to keep your eyes open & be aware? Of course. Have things gotten worse? In my later years I would say yes, however...
- We are training people to be terrified to walk anywhere. I've been approached by pan handlers. I was always polite. I've been called a name once or twice, again I remained polite. Yes, people can be unpredictable, but that's everywhere. Imo pepper spray & handcuffs in an office bldg is overreacting.
- It’s another day where someone I’ve never heard of has done something stupid. I’m tired of this world.
- We're in uncharted territory now. Can't wait.
- This is really good. Behind every great man, etc…. Great historical pics as well, for fellow typewriter lovers.
- NEW ESSAY — Christine Jacobson’s “Typing for Love or Money”, on the neglected efforts of women like Theodora Bosanquet, Véra Nabokov, and Valerie Eliot, who — through their work as typists and editors — had a profound impact on modern literature: publicdomainreview.org/essay/typing...
- Unpopular opinion, and I KNOW I’m in the minority here, but I hate cooking shows. I also hate cooking, so…
- This is cool. Made me realize how few PMs I'm familiar with from before I was born. Also, just my opinion, but Harper's portrait strikes me as too "busy" compared to the others. I love Mackenzie Bowell's coat. W.L.M. King's is my fav; the chair, the glasses, the papers.
- I'm not sure you are a Luddite or a curmudgeon Mick Friesen, but you are definitely a Kindred Spirit. Shout out to the @winnipegfreepress.com, for providing a community sounding board.
