I do think it's meaningfully different because the threat isn't as concentrated, but as a Central Texan: regular-ass fuckos have been big organizing here ESPECIALLY after both of these state-sanctioned murders so that we know how to track/report the secret police. Ramped up, not down.
I think one thing people outside Minnesota don't understand is that after Good and Pretti were killed by feds while observing, the most normal people you could imagine have made peace with the fact that they could be next, and they are still out there because they say it's the right thing to do.

(to be clear this not a well actually or dunk on the OP, and I know folks in MN are putting their lives at risk every day -- i just want the world to know that folks in other US geographies see what is happening in MN and are gathering up to do the same if and when we need to)
I got my first whistle last weekend and it was a very intense moment, putting it around my neck and thinking about how to use it responsibly to protect my neighborhood. That happened because of the organizing that has already been done in MN, Chicago, and LA.

I find the
@whstancil.bsky.social backlash strangely fascinating.
At its core it seems to be a desperate effort by folks further to the left to avoid having a liberal (with communication skills) become the face of their movement.
But, to be honest, winning was always going to require that.
I'm pretty far left, and I'm glad to be out there with the stereotypical libs. Anyone who draws lines when the goals are similar isn't really in it for anything they actually believe in.

to be clear, because I’m seeing a lot of False Lore about this, I was walking around filming ICE and police lines for an hour when I happened through this scene. the “filming faces” is the video you’re watching, not something earlier. guy just saw the phone up and freaked.
After the Pretti shooting, one of those guys straight-up suckerpunched me for “filming faces”… as I filmed him and fully-masked friends lighting fires directly in front of the dozens of gathered press crews. Nonsensical; just dudes wanting someone to give them a reason. Not that different from ICE.
Someone dressed like an ICE agent is punching observers who film them
