- I have to take issue with this headline: ‘Drones join battle against eight-toothed beetle threatening forests’ The only UK ‘forests’ under threat are near-lifeless, commercial monocultures, many of which are owned by super-wealthy interests… www.bbc.com/news/article...
- As with any large-scale monoculture, it’s only a matter of time before disease strikes and spreads through a population. Just look at chicken farms - or even us humans. In the case of trees, we should be worried about our amazing native woodlands, e.g. temperate rainforests, above spruce…
- Commercial forestry, sheep and other human pressures have pushed these forests to the brink. Let’s use the spaces cleared by these beetles to restore some of what we’ve lost #SaveOurRainforests
