Heather is a midnight writer
Writer. Artist. Designer. Publisher of indie books at Purple Feather Press. Meat Popsicle. Massage Therapist. Bunnyfly Wrangler. Punk Rock Pollyanna. AuDHD. She/They - depends on the day. Democracy fan on I-35, Texas Blue Dot.
- And it helps local bookstores and independent publishers like me, too! bookshop.org/shop/PurpleF...
- January newsletter for PurpleFeatherPress is finally up: it's long. it involves Anne Frank and a history book about the Victorio Campaign and the death of an author and me saying we need to keep writing & creating & fighting back against people who cause harm. purplefeatherpress.com/january-note...
- the way my brain drags me back to jumping up and down in dance clubs with in the blaring music and flashing lights a quarter century ago... oh. jeez. and how many years prior was this movie...? oh.
- Not just "No." but "Hell, NO!" They think these devices can "decode" facial expressions? I just want permission to slap the icky people wearing these ai-bs glasses in the first place.
- Maybe, I now might have the tiniest bit of hope that Texas can break its decades long abusive affair with republicans and finally look toward a Democratic administration again soon? Ann Richards was an icon, we need another like her, and the Blue Wave, here in Texas.

- "I am not a doctor. Don't listen to me. . . . . I'm high as a kite right now."
- me, frustrated at one thing not working on the layout of book I'm working on, knowing full well it was something I coded in place many, many, versions ago: Grrr. (keeps trying things & undoing because they won't work. me: there are tutorial videos online you know. also me: ugh, risk of ai slop. no!
- But see, I don't use things like Spotify or YouTube. I would rather use real maps, and keep a road atlas in my car, which is 20+ years old and still works as a transport device. Why have some device give you wrong info and pretend it's good? (I'm also Autistic, so...)
- Recreating the DustBowl is a weird goal. My grandparents grew up in the Texas Panhandle, I grew up in West Texas. The stories about dirt "sand-blasting" people's bare skin, the paint off houses, blowing in window seams and dirt covering everything. Letting ai & dumb ceo's harm the planet? Why?
- The PC (piece of crap) I *have* to use for work is already cumbersome and stupid. Giving it a voice will not help any part of it. Forced ai is like forcing people to smoke cigarettes, and it will eventually backfire, just like the doctors who used to smoke eventually had to stop suggesting cigs did.
- This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It's now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/799768/...

- This is a fascinating look at how the art told the story before words did, and it's regarding witches in history. Cool read!
- Texans, beware! We have another crap-bag aiming to do more damage from a political seat.
- I'm more annoyed at the display of white supremacy, of blame-shaming, of the litigious level of these 3 old white men standing up there to say one specific thing causes a neurodiverse brain. Why anyone takes advice from the rapist, felon, dictator-in-chief is still beyond me.
- These drive me nuts!!! WHY.
- Here's to the pedantic nerds!
- "Alright, Annie Oakley." "Am I done now?"
- Vast difference in "combine 87 PDFs to make one 680 page document" from the old cut-paste-move-the-pages-around-in-a-really-long-layout-across-the-floor days.
- Just like he said they would do when he was campaigning a year ago. And people *chose* that! (and tech/doge/whatevers /likely/ created the cheats to help. 😡)
- Hack the planet!
- Several of the projects I'm working on involve history: updating a history book, a memoir of a relationship that began 104 years ago, genealogy research & family tree data. So I'm mired in it, but it still amazes me other people can't see their history, or choose to ignore it, and thus repeat it.
- Yes, having CPR and Stop the Bleed training can come in handy in so many situations and more people need these skills in everyday life.
- This is a good read. The "AI" generated "answers" are usually crap, and sometimes harmful, so why do people still drink the snake oil?
- as of right now, there are 206 signatures on the motion to discharge regarding the Epstein Files - 12 more needed - track it here: clerk.house.gov/DischargePet...
- "As a scholar of rhetoric and the mother of an autistic child, in the language of MAHA I hear a disregard for the humanity of people with disabilities and a shift from supporting them to blaming them for their needs." - Megan Donelson
- Giving my autistic self permission to stop looking people in the eyes if they're wearing stupid glasses like these.
- The walk softly and carry a big stick energy we need:
- 🫠 another reminder that these "AI" things are not smart. Just stop pretending they are.
- he keeps saying the quiet part out loud and yet people laugh and don't believe him. 10 years now. trump is damaging everything, again, worse.
- This is a lovely timeline clease - go see all the birds/borbs!
