  I talked about this yesterday with a classmate from Abilene. Abilene is grassy plain. The grasses are what keeps the dirt in place, so less water means more dust storms. Losing the grasses also means that cattle grazing - an economic tentpole of west Texas - is gone. www.cnbc.com/2025/09/23/o...
