- 2/ After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Europe shifted from pipeline gas to #LNG. In 2024, the EU was the world’s top LNG importer, with the #US as main partner (46%). But since 2021, EU gas use fell 20% and LNG imports dropped 19%. EU LNG demand has likely peaked.
- 3/ A global LNG glut is coming. Projects in Qatar, the US, Canada, & more will push supply far beyond demand. The @iea.org sees a surplus of at least 130 bcm by 2030—more than the EU’s 2024 LNG imports. Overcapacity means #strandedassets and #financiallosses.
