- Check out the @caneurope.org blog! 👇 Today we met ahead of the #EnergyCouncil in Brussels to emphasise that real energy security means ENDING fossil fuel dependence, not swapping Russian gas for new long-term reliance on US #LNG!
- 1/ New report alert 🚨⚠️ Why should the @europarl.europa.eu reject the PCI & PMI list? Read our & @ceebankwatch.bsky.social latest report to find out! 👉 bit.ly/4a7q86X @ec.europa.eu @wopkehoekstra.ec.europa.eu @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu
- 2/ The @ec.europa.eu just dropped the 2nd PCI/PMI list: 59 hydrogen pipeline projects, twice as many as two years ago. These projects could get public subsidies & fast-tracked permitting!😡 @caneurope.org @foeeurope.bsky.social @globalenergymon.bsky.social @oilchange.bsky.social @recommon.org
- 3/ Our independent analysis shows that over 75% of these pipelines would end up carrying fossil-fuel-based hydrogen— if ever built! At the same time, 9 #hydrogen import terminals are getting PCI status and would mostly receive fossil-fuel-based #ammonia. @ciel.org @fossielvrijnl.bsky.social

View full thread6/ The @consilium.europa.eu & @ec.europa.eu must reject the current Delegated Regulation on PCIs and PMIs. Otherwise, we risk locking in a massive network powered by #fossilhydrogen.

- Today 30+ orgs wrote to EU decision-makers demanding #fossilhydrogen projects be excluded from PCI/PMI lists. These lists are full of polluting projects wasting taxpayers’ money & prolonging EU #fossilgas reliance for decades. Solution = prioritize renewables & direct electrification! bit.ly/4qpjMp4
- While LNG projects boom globally, ENI plans to invest $7.2B to expand LNG in Mozambique, mainly for export to 🇪🇺, ignoring harm to communities, nature & climate. This #fossilgamble traps Mozambique into fossil dependency & #climatechaos #ClimateJustice #StopFossilGas www.gurufocus.com/news/3129275...
- Fossil gas = a dead end. Every euro poured into #fossilfuels traps us in pollution & climate chaos. Renewables mean clean air, freedom from Trump & Putin’s gas, and protecting people & the planet. #StopFossilGas share-int.greenpeace.org/s/qB4FYwDv

- Reposted by foodwatereurope🚨New research🚨Rich countries can unlock $6.6 trillion for climate action by ending fossil fuels handouts, making polluters pay, defunding wars, taxing the super rich. There’s no shortage of $$ for action. It’s just in the wrong hands. #FixtheFinance ➡️ Read more: oilchange.org/we-can-pay-for-it/
- Publishing a new briefing today, backed by several groups, exposing the EU’s risky economic bet on LNG. Read the thread below to see why LNG = economic disaster 💥 bit.ly/47PLQuW Thread below👇
- In a widely criticized move, the @ec.europa.eu committed in July to a trade agreement that will see the EU import a jaw-dropping $750 BILLION in US fossil fuels over the next 3 years. That’s more than FOUR times the global LNG market size in 2024 🤯 bit.ly/3Vfl5bX
- EU gas demand is actually FALLING. Locking in massive LNG investments now risks billions in stranded assets: Wasted taxpayer € & financial high risks 💸🚫 bit.ly/46twudl

- Reposted by foodwatereuropeSince 2017, the Int'l Energy Agency has told the world the fossil fuel industry can reduce its emissions of toxic, planet-warming methane at little to no cost to itself. But industry keeps failing to clean up its act. Methane emissions are still rising in lockstep with production. bit.ly/47YXaVt
- 1/ Together with @oilchange.bsky.social, we commented on the recent EU-US trade deal, where the EU pledged $750 billion over 3 years, including to further boost energy imports. A reckless gamble that digs us deeper into fossil gas dependence & threatens EU's climate goals! 🛑
- The EU has just fallen into another dangerous fossil fuel dependency trap by giving in to pressure from the Trump administration to buy more U.S. oil and gas. Increasing Europe’s imports of U.S. LNG is a disaster for our climate. Read our reactive oilchange.org/news/eu-bowi...
- 2/ The deal risks billions wasted on #fossilfuel #strandedassets, locks in further unnecessary #LNG imports, & delays the urgent clean & just transition we need. As a recent report endorsed by 19 groups highlights, LNG expansion is a TERRIBLE economic idea! www.foodandwatereurope.org/factsheet/ne...
- 3/ Take action now! Over 70,000 people have already signed the #StopTrumpGas petition, urging the EU not only to end reliance on Russian gas but also to break free from US gas. It’s time to double down on a fair, green, and sustainable future instead. Join us! 🖊️ action.wemove.eu/sign/2025-04...
- 1/ Banking on Liquefied “Natural” Gas #LNG to power our industry, heat our homes, and cook our meals is a TERRIBLE idea. Check the facts in the new LNG Economic Visual Guide—endorsed by 19 groups—to see why the numbers just don’t add up 🔢 👉 www.foodandwatereurope.org/factsheet/ne...
- 3/ A global LNG glut is coming. Projects in Qatar, the US, Canada, & more will push supply far beyond demand. The @iea.org sees a surplus of at least 130 bcm by 2030—more than the EU’s 2024 LNG imports. Overcapacity means #strandedassets and #financiallosses.

- As #UNFCCC #SB62 talks happen in Bonn, frontline communities say NO to more polluting US LNG imports! @JohnBeard warns: LNG = sacrifice zones + climate chaos. Weakening EU methane rules only paves the way for more US dirty fossil gas. We must protect communities & the planet! #ClimateJustice #NoLNG
- Really EU energy priority? 🇪🇺 The methodology to assess EU top priority #hydrogen infra projects (PCIs/PMIs) has been validated yesterday. It contains problematic loopholes and is built on blatant conflicts of interest benefiting the #fossilfuel industry. 🔥How? 👉Read the thread🧵(1/4)
- The EU Commission’s methodology gives the fossil gas transport industry (ENTSO-G) a central role in selecting priority projects. And is largely based on ENTSO-G data. 🔥🔥 Thats a problem cause 50% of all candidate projects are put forward by ENTSO-Gs own members! 😮💨 😮💨
- The methodology weighs supposed “benefits” of #hydrogen projects against costs—BUT assumes many (only potential) benefits & ignores the real costs of fossil hydrogen, environmental destruction, and #humanrights abuses linked to the projects. 🌏 🤦 (3/4)
- We have long called for more transparency, proper involvement of civil society and for kicking the fossil fuel lobby out of defining which energy Projects are in our Common Interest! ✊✊ We will continue to ask for PCIs for Europe, not for big oil & gas! 🌍🌱🦋 #PCIList (4/4)
- 1/ Today, @eucouncil.bsky.social may back conclusions pushing @ec.europa.eu weaken EU Methane Reg!That means loopholes & more dirty #LNG. In the 📷: clips from last week’s #BreakFreeFromGas action + a strong warning from MEP @juttapaulus.bsky.social on the danger of weaker methane rules!
- 2/ Let’s be clear: real energy security isn’t deregulation or dirty #TrumpPutin #gas—or any gas. Last week we said it loud & clear in Brussels. As the Energy Council meets, we say it again: EU, stop locking us into #fossilgas! We need 100% renewable, fair & efficient solutions!

- 1/ We say NO to #TrumpPutin #Gas, and NO to #Gas from anywhere. Fossil gas is not the future. Clean, 100% renewable solutions exist! Ahead of the June 16 Energy Council, we say it loud: Gas dependency = energy insecurity. Time to phase it out for good. #BeyondGas #EnergyJustice
- 2/ Inside @consilium.europa.eu, some want to weaken 🇪🇺 Methane Regulation—opening the door to more dirty #LNG. More #fossilgas means more harm to people & planet. We urge: PHASE OUT GAS NOW! 💥 Read more: foodandwatereurope.org/pressreleases/break-free-from-gas-civil-society-urges-eu-energy-ministers/
