So on Halloween I experienced a detached retina. I was seen and treated quickly and my retina was saved. But my vision has been lousy and getting lousier since, because, for reasons unknown, retinal surgery hastens the development of a cataract. So now I get cataract surgery tomorrow. Whee.
Cataract surgery is great. I highly recommend it. 😉 Quick, easy, hardly any healing time, good eyes afterwards—what’s not to like about it? Unless you get both eyes done and suddenly need to deal with reading glasses, which is a pain, but just an inconvenience-type pain.
What's not to like? Being awake for it, for one. I have told my eye doc if I ever need this surgery I will require full sedation because of the anxiety involved.
I do not like having anything come near my eyes, on a very visceral level.
