- The King County Prosecutor's Office is currently doing an exceptionally exploitative presentation about sex trafficking to the Seattle City Council that includes slides of identifiable bloodied, brutalized women and identifiable women who are nude or nearly nude.
-
View full threadEddie Lin asks about the graphic images of identifiable women - "I'm just concerned about victims' identities and retraumatizing" them. Prosecutor says "in some of the photos if we had blurred the eyes you wouldn't have seen the injuries"; also, they're in public court records somewheres so it's ok.
- This is so enraging, I feel like seattle and WA have gone backwards on sex trade issues despite YEARS of advocacy from people like Emi Koyama and numerous sex worker rights aligned (and led!) orgs in the region. What the actual fuck.
- i spoke out against KCPAO’s exploitative and gratuitous use of a series of photos of brutalized and bloodied women survivors in my public comment before the presentation even started, because I saw them posted on the city’s website before the meeting. i thought perhaps …
- I’m sorry I didn’t say anything sooner. We can and must do better to protect people’s identities and not cause further trauma. Thank you for speaking up and raising awareness.

- Wow. While we wait for the few remaining ballots to be counted, we feel like we have won this race. The recent drop put us nearly 1,400 votes ahead, just under the .5 percent threshold for a mandatory recount.

- gonna just use this as a plug for actual LOCAL journalists—human beings who are familiar with local elections, as opposed to algorithmic betting machines that can and do get basic things wrong

- Earlier this year, my office went to the State Capitol to support SB 5184, which slashes parking mandates. The bill passed, but Seattle isn’t required to comply until 2027. With the passage of my Comp Plan Amendment 85, however, we’ll be putting these reduced parking mandates into effect this year!
