- It is so nice when you get reviewers' comments back and the suggestions are so spot on and fantastic that I'm actually excited to add to the manuscript what they're asking for. Thank you, whoever you are!
- Reposted by Elena Blanco-SuárezThis is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.
- Very excited to see the official announcement for the thesis defense of the first PhD student in the lab! ✊🏼🎉
- Does anyone have 3D printer files for objects for the novel object recognition test for mice, and are willing to share? Also, happy holidays

- I made our postdoc pose with the shell of a Galapagos giant tortoise. This is the beauty of being in a Biology Department 🐢
- Last day of @sfn.org! It has been better than expected, catching up with colleagues from all over the world and hearing everyone telling me how much happier I look 💖 Feels great when hard decisions turned out to be the right decision.
- First @sfn.org day done ✅
- Having invited seminar speakers is always very nice, but even better if they're as cool as @drsalinaslab.bsky.social
- Thank you @andrewboyce.bsky.social for hosting me at @unmhsc.bsky.social I had a great time with students and faculty, and learned that Albuquerque's founder was from Asturias (de Grao!), which got me really excited 😅
- I do remember that as a child I found the film very unsettling because I thought it was unfair and hard on the little mouse. I don't remember the plot, only how it made me feel.
- Are you putting your schedule together for @sfn.org in San Diego? Make sure you check Bridget's poster on 11/15 1-5pm (C20) and 6:45-8:45pm (B17). And on 11/16 you can catch me 9-11am in a panel about Bilingual Science Outreach in Room 1 and 2-4:30pm in the minisymposium in Room 6DE. Come say hi!👋🏼
- Reposted by Elena Blanco-SuárezSan Diego showed up in a big way to say No Kings. #NoKings
- I'll be one of the panelists at this great event! If you happen to be in San Diego make sure you attend and say hello 👋🏼

- A solitary bottle in our brand new fridge. Things are starting to pick up (much faster than during Covid)!
- Haven't been posting a lot. Focusing on getting the lab up and running, but taking a lunch break on a beautiful day is 💯 Thanks @arunsethuraman.bsky.social for getting me out of the office 🙃
- My new research home ❣️🔆 @sdsuresearch.bsky.social
- Lost the final weeks of a grant because my former institution declined to work with the sponsor on a solution they pproposed.💸💸💸 Sadly, this says a lot about the environment I was in.
- 💔
- Congratulations to Bridget in our lab to get the 2025 Trainee Professional Development Award by @sfn.org !! 🎉💪🏼 So well deserved!
- If you have a "recently" (in the last 2 years) published paper with a preprint available, I’d love to hear from you! All neuroscience topics are welcome. 🙏🏼 Thank you!
- I’m designing a course that uses preprints and their peer-reviewed, published versions to directly compare how manuscripts are originally conceived by authors and how the peer-review process shapes their final form.🎯My goal is to help students strengthen critical thinking and become fair reviewers.
- This precious work came out almost a year ago and I am celebrating with one of the great authors who contributed. Thank you, Dr. Jensen and everyone else who made it happen 🍻
- Very excited to share that our book, Astrocyte-Neuron Interactions in Health and Disease, is now available🎉 Thank you to all who contributed their expertise and passion!🙏🏼 a.co/d/8q0r1zT
- 9 days left (no that I'm counting....)! 🌅🌯 Working every day with these people is the thing I’ll miss from Thomas Jefferson. I’ve been very lucky to work with students who set the bar pretty high!
- So exciting to see my new @sdsuresearch.bsky.social profile biology.sdsu.edu/elena-blanco...
- Our StepUp! To Cancer Research program intern presented her summer work today. Bravo, Bri!
- A problem I'm familiar with. Obvious fix?: Train people to become good leaders. Get rid of those who can't and won't lead, who can't deal with conflict appropriately, who don't have emotional intelligence. From department chairs to the very top.
- 3/ Not to mention the lack of long term business strategic visions, when a leader destroys the coworkers, instead of promoting them into reaching together common, long lasting goals. #machtmissbrauch #abuseofpower #loyalität #loyalty
- 📣 Big news! The Blanco-Suarez Lab is moving to @sdsuresearch.bsky.social in beautiful San Diego🌅🌴 Excited to rejoin this science community and continue exploring astrocyte-neuron interactions in stroke and expanding to other models! 🧠Stay tuned for open positions!➡️www.blancosuarezlab.com
- Muy entusiasmada de ser ponente en esta workshop organizada por @fleabrained.bsky.social Mark it in your schedule!

- Submit a symposium proposal for ASN 2026! Deadline extended to July 16 🚨 icsevents.eventsair.com/Presentation...
- Following up on this. I've heard a lot the "it dampens my enthusiasm". So the idea doesn't knock your socks off. Doesn't mean it's not worth supporting/pursuing it, if it's well-reasoned, interesting, rigorous. Your enthusiasm is not a fair criterion. Your enthusiasm is an opinion, in my opinion 😅
- I don't think we realize that, as grant reviewers, when we don't do a good and fair job, we may be jeopardizing someone's career. Especially of junior faculty. Non-constructive, biased reviews don't help anyone.
- Clearing my desk at home I found a pile of 15+ letters from some grateful San Diego middle schoolers when I used to have more time to do outreach. I need to find time again, because receiving those letters was more rewarding than any NOA.
- It was refreshing and encouraging to hear a senior faculty calling out the BS with the current administration and funding situation. Thank you @dattalab.bsky.social for speaking up during your visit. Some faculty leaders can learn from that!
- Reposted by Elena Blanco-SuárezCalling all Neuroscience postdocs! 🧠 Share your research through SPiNES (Seminars from Postdocs in Neuroscience: Extramural Series) from the NYUGSoM Department of Neuroscience. - Reposted by Elena Blanco-SuárezJoin us today for another exciting session of #AstrocyteCafe, where Dr. Elena Blanco-Suarez (@eblancosuarez.bsky.social) will speak about Time and region-dependent roles of #astrocyte-secreted proteins in stroke! 🤩 Starting soon!
- Thank you, Facultad de Medicina @ucm.es for this really cool gift for being a speaker at the seminar series. A copy of Ramón y Cajal's doctoral thesis (from 1877)!
- It's been fantastic to visit Seoul for the first time, seeing amazing research in stroke, and meet up with old and new colleagues. Brain and Brain PET might become my favorite meeting!
- I was looking for our review, authored by Eileen, to share with a student and... AI decided to change our names to male names. Are women in science getting their names "translated" to Edward/Eduardo?
- Reposting this, because it seems like it was easy to be an advocate and an ally when it was "trendy", but not so much anymore...
- Getting reprimanded for requesting a message of support for us, non-US citizen folks, is a new kind of soul-crushing experience.
