- Had a blast 2 weeks ago recording some clarinet solo lines for Insignia, the game project I’m currently making music for - having real performances layered with samples always makes such a difference ☺️

- This year I learnt that you can ask your local library to buy a book they don’t already have that you want and they’ll just do it. Why did no one tell me this?! Already used it 4 times this year

- Reposted by Morgan Ainsley 🎧2024 currently has more known games industry layoffs than 2023+2022 combined. 2024 is roughly 600 layoffs away from doubling 2023. There is still plenty of business days left in the month. I can't emphasize enough how extreme these last few years have been. So far.
- We made it guys
- Today I’ve been downloading/transferring over 1Tb of sample libraries/virtual instrument content onto an external hard drive. I started at 8:30am. It is now 11:35pm. It’s still going.

- (10) Journey Ending on a real banger. This one is really special to me because Austin Wintory’s music and YouTube channel are one of the reasons I realised I wanted to write game music. That’s all for this series. Hope you enjoyed getting to know me through the games I love!
- (9) Gris This game really felt like an interactive artwork. There was such artistry in every element and the sound design was so delicate and beautiful. Really touched me. Need to get onto Neva.
- (8) Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Hearing so much about Naughty Dog, particularly the Last of Us and Uncharted, I decided I wanted to play through the games in order, starting with the first Uncharted. I really enjoyed it and I’m now in Uncharted 2 - need to get back to it though.
- (7) Planet of Lana Like with Horizon Zero Dawn, I came to this game through the art and music. Takeshi Furukawa has got to be one of my favourite composers in terms of writing beautifully for orchestra. I’m still working my way through this game but it is as beautiful as I knew it would be.
- (6) Detroit Become Human I hadn’t heard of this game until my sister roped me in to playing through it with her. I was captivated. It’s mind blowing how detailed the branching narrative is and how much agency you have as a player. Story is very thought provoking with thrilling twists and turns.
- (5) Unpacking This game is genius in the way story telling is done through the gameplay. It was like nothing else I’ve ever played. Also gotta love an Aussie studio.
- (4) Horizon Zero Dawn I came to this game through loving the soundtrack. It’s the first game I bought even before I owned a console and was borrowing a friend’s. It was my entrance into console gaming and it was a rough start getting used to camera controls with robot dinosaurs coming at me.
- Thank you again GADA for this opportunity!
- (3) Hades I was convinced that the rogue-like genre wasn’t for me but I heard so many good things about Hades I had to try it and sure enough I was pleasantly surprised. It is so well crafted to ensure a sense of progression both in story and gameplay despite the resets. And music and art are 😍
- (2) The Curse of Monkey Island This game holds such a special place in my heart because my dad played through it (and the rest of the series) with me and my siblings when we were young. So many quotes live rent free in my head.
- Hi! I’m Morgan and I’m a video game composer based in Sydney Australia. I mostly write in an orchestral style, but recently I’ve been exploring EDM for something a bit different which has been fun. I’m currently working on the indie game Insignia from Upponhill
- (1) Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) This was the first console action adventure campaign that I ever completed, around the time when I got my first console at the start of my 20s (my family didn’t have one growing up). I loved the game, and with time I’d realise that shooters are really my jam.
- Gonna post 10 games that are significant to me and why in no particular order over the next 10 days so you can get to know me
