A new @lseimpactblog.bsky.social published by @ucl.ac.uk researchers argues that only using annual earnings figures is not enough to answer the question. - I went to see the Lee Miller exhibition at @tate.bsky.social last weekend (curated by my brilliant friend Hilary 🌟) and was struck by the range of Miller’s work. It is to quote Hilary: “fearless, poetic, and surreal”.
- I found Miller’s photo of @ucl.ac.uk taken during WWII quite surreal. I walk through the Wilkins Building on a regular basis and never stopped to think of all it has seen. Looking forward to (hopefully!) learning more as part of #ucl200
- I cannot recommend this exhibition enough—go see it! #tatebritain
- Today marks my 10 (!!!) year anniversary at @sriucl.bsky.social and my first day as a full professor. Grateful for all the people who helped me get here, especially my amazing QSS colleagues. Here’s to the next 10!

- Writing this paper with John Jerrim and Phil Parker got me started on a whole journey about gender differences in over-/underconfidence.
- In related work with @adameczanna.bsky.social we show that boy twins also overestimate their math ability as compared to their girl twin and their parents and teachers do the same link.springer.com/article/10.1...
- Now with amazing colleagues at @ucl.ac.uk we are going to look at how over-/underconfidence explains gender and SES gaps in real world job application outcomes.
