- Reposted by David MoormanThere is a lot of talk lately about multi-year funding (MYF) at NIH. This is mostly a paperwork issue, but it can have a dramatic impact on the number of grants that get funded. I was curious how this would impact grant numbers over time, so I did some simple modeling. 1/n

- Reposted by David MoormanJust spoke to The Hill about how the dismantling of the NIH is impacting science in America. We still face a cliff of unfathomable heights, w easily 1000+ labs poised to close in the next year due to funding ending. A generation of young scientists lost because there is nowhere for them to train.
- Reposted by David MoormanThe new NIH multi-year funding policy is a scheme to undercut the NIH budget and fund less science. And it’s working (see below). The Senate approps bill has language to limit MYF use, but the House version does not. Call your reps (House and Senate) and insist it’s included in the final bill! 🧪
- Glad to see Congress doing some oversight of new NIH policies. www.congress.gov/crs-product/... Number of new awards is way down since Trump took office, despite NIH spending the same amount of money.
- Reposted by David MoormanNSF needs to hear from you. Among other points, I suggested: keep politics out of science; stop using the threat of cancelling scientific grants to try to control universities; increase NSF funding for fundamental research.
