In my latest article in 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘺, I show that those who subscribe to this conspiracy theory are much more politically diverse than commonly assumed, and that their endorsement cannot always be explained by extreme political ideologies. 👇

- My recently published and co-edited book on #Migration (part of @dvpwtheoriesektion.bsky.social series) is in German, so here’s a brief introduction in English with focus on my chapter 1/3🧵
- In my chapter, I focus on the dynamics of mobility and immobility. While migration studies often celebrate mobility as freedom, I argue that immobility - whether chosen or enforced - is just as crucial, and its (political) consequences are often overlooked 2/3
- A takeaway: immobility fosters local ties, but it can also fuel resentment against 'cosmopolitan elites', shaping radical right attitudes. Understanding the immobile perspective helps to explain why debates on migration provoke such strong reactions 3/3
- Reposted by Oliviero AngeliStarting the day with terrific news: my paper with Sergi Martínez (EAFIT) and Ethan vanderWilden (U of Wisconsin) on far-right normalization and discounting of their extreme positions has been conditionally accepted at Political Science Research and Methods (PSRM). I believe it's very timely.
- An informative article (in German) examines why EU countries declare a 'state of emergency' on asylum (with data on arrivals). I shared insights on how this narrative is a tool for radical right parties: in power, to push legal boundaries; out of power, to fuel fears and demand drastic measures.

- 🧵 What would it mean if far-right parties set asylum/migration policies? Spoiler: Nothing good Together with two colleagues, we looked at policy proposals of six far-right parties including Afd, Rassemblement National & Fratelli d’Italia. The findings in a nutshell. forum-midem.de/wp-content/u...
- Commonalities? Many Differences? Some Common themes include externalizing asylum and strengthening borders. But their views on Europe? That’s where the real split begins
- Far-right parties in the south, such as Fratelli d'Italia (FdI), are less anti-European on migration. In contrast, the Rassemblement National (RN), the AfD and the FPÖ lean towards sovereigntism and Euroscepticism, especially on asylum and migration - with RN & AfD particularly critical of Schengen
