- in real terms, #7 would give states leverage to put an end to surges, #8 would give states the ability to outright stop construction of new detention facilities, #1 and #6 would slow the rate at which DHS could train and deploy officers, #2 and #10 would likely shrink the pool of recruits
- much depends on legislative language but if you want to put some sand in the gears of ICE this is what it would look like

- Really nuts how many men were like "Me Too went too far, and I need to email Jeffrey Epstein about it."
- Americans, we are living in a time of viciousness. We are living in a time where speaking the “wrong” language or having the “wrong” skin color puts you in danger. Congress must disband ICE and impeach Kristi Noem.

- Obviously small news outlets need money to get going, and the ones we have now can't replace newspapers, but they also cost a lot less once you take out all the inflated exec and "star" salaries, expensive real estate, dumb tech brained gambits, and, most importantly, infinite profit motive!
- "We just want to do good work and each make a decent living and keep the lights on" is still a radical idea in comparison to how everything has always worked but it's not fantastical.
- It's how Night Vale has survived. We were left out of the big podcast gold rush because we didn't want Infinite Expansion, we didn't want to sell our IP, we just wanted to make our show and pay everyone. But that also meant when the bubble popped we were one of the few that wasn't wiped out.
- "There just seem to be very few people that have moral red lines in the elite, people that are just willing to say, no, not for me." Whether it's Saudi Arabia, or Jeffrey Epstein. @timmiller.bsky.social:

- I do not make this comparison lightly.
- "In my few days in Minnesota, I’ve been witness to countless scenes that remind me of moments I’ve seen during previous trips covering conflicts around the world," photojournalist @cengizyar.com writes. "The wars we’ve carried out as a nation abroad have come home." More: propub.li/4acxEeY

- They’ve been on this for a minute. More teaching + post tenure review (and contracts) plus ai supercharged productivity surveillance tools also makes professors more vulnerable to student evals, which gives admin more power to fire you. That’s the plan.

- This is how Sen. Ron Wyden clues the public into activity that he finds extremely alarming. He does a press release about a letter he sent to the director of the CIA that basically says, 'I want to make sure you saw the classified letter I sent early today.' www.wyden.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

- We donated blood today at the Red Cross. This is the child’s second time donating. The first time she passed out, but we got the Pac-Man socks. Chalked it up to first time jitters. Friends, it was not. This time she passed out AND threw up. She is devastated. She wants to help so badly.

- "By the end of the two-year period, 94% of participants reported they were housed." A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends. Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.
- Here's a roundup I just did of homeless focused pilot results:
