- Reposted by Patricia DohertyMy least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area. (15 in Manhattan btw)

- Reposted by Patricia DohertyWhat do these corporations have in common? Netflix Ford Tesla T-Mobile Duke Energy DISH Network Metlife Dominion Energy United States Steel In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes. This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.
- Reposted by Patricia DohertyI don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

- Reposted by Patricia DohertyI will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable. We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina. A vote for this bill is a mistake.

- Reposted by Patricia DohertyThe AFL-CIO should start throwing some money towards labor journalism. If it was done right (i.e. with them accepting that journalists must have full editorial control over what’s published, whether or not union leaders like what they have to say) it could really have such a hugely positive impact

- Reposted by Patricia DohertyTwo of the media organizations that have really "met the moment" in national coverage are Teen Vogue and WIRED. Along with student-run college newspapers in general. And scores of local start-ups. The main hope for journalism (in its dark times) is the next wave of journalists.

Because all of that is a distraction from the fact that your situation, your life has not gotten better. They do it so you won't notice"

- Reposted by Patricia DohertyI lived with my dad when I was very young and he didn’t apply for food stamps or free school lunches, though we qualified. So, I went hungry. It was awful. I begged neighbors for saltine crackers. I can say it was the worst time of my life. Children shouldn’t go hungry. Restore SNAP benefits.
- Theatre too! Whenever this happens, I react w/ a deadpan “I’m not impressed” then clear the fitting, immediately report to StageM/ProdM. I don’t care who they are…that actor won’t get another fitting w/o mgmt in the room…if at all. Esp w/ a young asst there, I’ll report to AEA. I don’t take crap.
- Reposted by Patricia DohertyHere's a gift link to the New York Times' coverage of the initial Tea Party rallies in April 2009 which inspired the media to treat it like a massive movement. Check out how tiny the crowds were: Philly: 200 DC: "several hundred" Boston: 500 Austin: 1,000 Houston: 2,000
