turn off all chat, tbh. it's not necessary to win and no amount of good games with great comms is worth the onslaught of shit you have to trudge through. (source: over 2000 hours of overwatch and 180 in rivals)

i always play rivals with a friend and we climbed to gm, nearly celestial (one win away! 😭) without joining chat. i still play overwatch comp solo and it's fine. and a lot less stressful without some loser shrieking slurs in your ear

Yeah, I usually mute people in voice who are annoying 🤣 I've not muted the chat yet, but I have considered it a few times. And ranking with a friend is sooo much better than solo! I'm only gold 1/plat 3, I can def feel that hero shooters are a whole different thing than the games I usually play 😆

yeah ive seen it the other way around tbh. games get higher quality for sure, but people are nicer on bronze/silver

i find marvel rivals is easier to solo queue without voice chat than overwatch tbh, but I am on console so people rarely type in chat
