- Zooey's message was effective because it was real. She is explicit about how far-right propaganda on trans persons is delusional, perverted, and warped in the context of real people's daily lives. She did not "meet in the middle" with insanity to try persuading with "fairness".
- Too many supposed Democrats don't sound real in the first place, and sounding more real than the other guy is how you persuade people. Real is being the one man to stand up in a room full of fascists and point his cane at their leader. Not the people in his own party who censure him for doing so.
