I’m not picky on how you pronounce my name, but if you really want to say it correctly, ask Pierre Barrouillet or libradunn1@bsky.social to demo.
- Omaha showed up for today’s protest against the paramilitary occupation of Minneapolis and ICE’s executions of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. I’ve been to dozens of protests at 72nd and Dodge. I have never seen this many protesters and this level of overwhelming support from passing cars.
- Ten years ago, he told us what he expected from his supporters. His as he predicted, he has committed crimes and they still voted for him. He continues to lead members at every level of his administration in criminal acts. When will we hold him accountable?
- It’s tuna time! (We’ve operantly conditioned them to come to the kitchen when we whistle. It’s how we get Hal (L) to come home when his outdoor adventure is going longer than our schedules allow.)

Early implanted children benefit from verbal recoding as much as their typically hearing peers. on.asha.org/3LT7m96 @memoryangela.bsky.social @sigperspectives.bsky.social
- My yard just made the local news’ list of Halloween yard haunts. Can I add this to my CV? www.ketv.com/article/omah...
- Had the urge to remind Apple of the correct name for the Gulf of Mexico, but it won’t let me send the issue.
- #BB27 has enough social awareness to make OTEV Animal Farm meets the Godfather but can’t bring themselves to edit Riley as the groomer he is? This is what happens when the sociology major gets theory classes but no practical implementation.

- 23 years ago, Marcellas' eviction served as a chilling warning to all future players that they should always use the veto. Zach now stands as a testament to the fact that the lessons of history are always doomed to be forgotten; that everybody thinks they are the exception. God save us all. #BB27
- Waking up at 5:30 am to a severe thunderstorm with 80+ mph winds and was not exactly the most relaxing way to start the weekend. But @ketv7.bsky.social’s (all women) weather team, lead by @caitlinharveywx.bsky.social made for good company.
- When your entire office can be seen from the hallway, you need a way to let your colleagues know that you are okay… the faraway look on your is because you are connecting with scientists all over the world at the @wmsymposium.bsky.social. Oh! And please do not disturb
- Hal and his sister Hero came to live with us about a year ago after being with the same human for over a decade. Hal just dragged my sweatshirt to a box and made himself a little bed. I think this cat finally feels at home.
- Ha! Winnifred (one of my longtime kitty friends) approves of Hal’s handiwork.

- In our final talk before lunch, Dr. Karen Muñoz from @utahstate.bsky.social reviews strategies audiologists can use to support parents as they learn about their child’s hearing aid (One communication strategy capitalizes on CHUNKING which makes my working memory heart so very happy)
- Dr. Dawna Lewis reviews evidence for remote microphone (RM) use with children whose hearing is audio-metrically typical but who have other special listening needs.
- Drs. Tiana Cowan, Ryan McCreery, and Lori Leibold present a new tool, the Children’s English and Spanish Speech Recognition (ChEgSS) test which will soon be available to facilitate speech perception testing with bilingual children.
- Poster session for the 2025 Boys Town National Research Hospital Pediatric Audiology Translational Research (PAT) Conference
- The PAT Conference from Boys Town National Research Hospital brings the leading Pediatric Audiology Translational Research to clinicians and scientists. Follow along Friday (May 30) and Saturday (May 31) for live updates.
- PAT Conference keynote speaker Dr. Susan Scollie from @westernuwin.bsky.social presents a historical review of the major advances in pediatric hearing aid fitting and highlights gaps that need to be addressed for future research.
- Our next speaker, Dr. Kathryn Wiseman, tackled the challenging question of when to transition a pediatric hearing aid user into cochlear implant candidate.

- Remember Jocelyn Chen who did her Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) project on auditory distraction with us a few years ago as a high schooler? Now she is a freshman at @barnard-college.bsky.social and already has a first-author publication! doi.org/10.59720/24-...
- This project was especially important because it focused on high school students. Cognitive development during the teenage years is under-researched relative to changes occurring during childhood and early adulthood.
- POV: research assistant has the day off so the PI will be running kiddos all day means post-it notes all over the lab with little reminders.
- Today is the Boys Town National Research Hospital 2025 Post Doc Symposium! Follow along to learn about our Post Docs and how the research program at Boys Town cares for children, families, and communities!
- Dr. Lee Evans presents data that many early numeracy skills develop with support from language. Unfortunately, for children who are deaf and hard of hearing, language delays appear to lead to delays in numeracy.
- As a side note, Lee is a brilliant scientist and phenomenal speaker. If I was still on X, I’d show receipts. If you are looking for Dev Psych or Comm Sci faculty, let me know and I’ll pass that position along. Photos of Lee gesticulating for extra traction:
