Long press #pubs to see papers from me and my team
- Reposted by Jenny Zhen-Duan, PhDthey're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

- Safe to say I disassociated hard this year. 😅

- After a 7 month delay, I finally received the NIH/NIAAA notice of award for my K08! I’m most grateful to NIH staff for trying their hardest under these conditions. Just in time to submit a new RPPR. 😅
- Timely paper published by our team. #pubs Exposure to vicarious racism (i.e., witnessing other Latinx individuals experience racism) was related to generalized anxiety and internalizing symptoms 1 year later, for youth whose sleep quality was less stable. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
- I miss seeing these types of posts on my feed. Keep sharing good news, all! Congratulations, Dr Shick!
- One of my summer interns is interested in "radio pharmaceutical, researching radioactive drugs, and general drug development." Would someone close to this field be willing to chat with him about your educational and career trajectory? Please RT.
- Feels rather pointless that I’m about to submit three papers on an NIH project that is 5+ months late on the NOA, effectively creating a 75% salary gap for most of this year. 😐 But, I made a commitment to the funders & participants, and I'm seeing this project through to completion.

- Reposted by Jenny Zhen-Duan, PhDBREAKING: A federal judge reversed National Institutes of Health's terminations of hundreds of critical research grants that were canceled because of their alleged connection to disfavored topics, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and gender identity. This is a major win for public health.

- Reposted by Jenny Zhen-Duan, PhDBased on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

That study was made possible with federal funding. Now, many studies like this are canceled. hub.jhu.edu/2025/06/04/...

- Reposted by Jenny Zhen-Duan, PhD🧪 Attention those with terminated grants, including for NSF, NASA, EPA, NIH, etc: Let Congress know about the impact of terminations via this form: democrats-science.house.gov/grantcancela... Only Dem staff on the House Science Committee will have access (unless if you explicitly state otherwise).

- One of the benefits of having 1 and 2yo toddlers is that there is never any time to be alone with your anxious thoughts, so work stress is mostly contained to working hours. 😆

- Reposted by Jenny Zhen-Duan, PhD"Women are PIs on 58% of the canceled grants, although they are PIs on only 34% of all active NSF grants. Similarly, Blacks are PIs on 17% of the terminated grants, although they make only 4% of the total pool. Hispanic PIs and those with disabilities were twice as likely to lose a grant."
- Another scoop from Jeff Mervis (@policyhound.bsky.social): NSF's ~1400 grant terminations have disproportionately affected PIs from groups underrepresented in science: women, racial & ethnic minorities, & those with disabilities. 1/3 www.science.org/content/arti...

- Reposted by Jenny Zhen-Duan, PhDI was just told that I have to remove “climate” from the title of an ongoing grant if I want to keep it. And publications from that grant cannot include “climate” and other forbidden words. I can’t believe I’m writing this from the United States of America. #AcademicSky
