- Reposted by piffeysports coverage is not about box scores anymore. it's about power and politics and corruption and sovereign wealth and real estate and the use of taxpayer money and the most publicized labor disputes in the country and yes, sometimes about ball go in hoop
- I can’t prove it but I’m convinced @tinypettingzoo.bsky.social is the BlueSky equivalent of a numbers station and I keep trying to crack the code.
- Reposted by piffeyIf our "environmental protection" frameworks can stop an affordable housing project but can't stop a detention center or a highway expansion we really need to start talk about ripping things up root and branch.
- Went to go watch West Ham/Chelsea today while traveling in another city. Supporter group here charging a cover to sit with them and watch on TV. That’s a no from me. I’ll drink in the morning somewhere else with a television thank you very much.
- Going to be blown away if we don’t end up going down still but mildly hopeful?
- I find it interesting that Flock and other ALPRs ask to take down their data from Wigle so they’re harder to map. Or rather I assume so since my wardriving submissions containing their data don’t appear. Why the need to hide them if they’re such a public asset?
- ALPRs are too easily abused to threaten free speech and privacy, are prone to errors, and amass tons of data that’s a tantalizing target for hackers, EFF’s Adam Schwartz told the Lake County News Sun/Chicago Tribune. www.chicagotribune.com/2026/01/28/...
- Also I need to make a lil 3d printer model of a tiny cowboy hat that fits perfectly over the tops of these guys.
- Hadn’t thought about this in awhile: - Computer Bench Tech - Chess Instructor - Barista - Line Cook - Bike Messenger Started strong. Ended with a lot of tattoos and a few small beers.

- There needs to be some @standard.site equivalent for media (books/music/film) and reviews. Went looking for ATProto apps to track media and there are so many varied lexicons. From a user perspective bouncing from a Goodreads clone to another and back, but seeing all my own data on both, is a win.
- And a speedy google search found me lexicon.community so I’m not novel or interesting. But we knew that already.
- And now seeing @popfeed.social unifying all of this. Leaving this thread for someone else who follows the same line of thinking. 😂
- Way cool. Can now see all kinds of other AT Proto uses and users of apps.
- just noticed @recordcollector.edavis.dev added a @standard.site label! 🎉
- Whether or not the local police department is willing to chase a thief who has your AirTagged bag is a good indicator of societal health.
- Fuck nah Flooring America.

- No faster way to lose my business then have a subscription model where you lose things you paid for if cancelling. Canceled a language subscription on Preply. Subscribed for 8/month. Had 6 unscheduled that I’d already paid for but hadn’t booked due to busy work. Couple hundred bucks lost.
- I’m doing at a minimum 500/mo in private tutors to keep up with my language learning goals. Moving that all over to Italki and its per lesson model. 🤷♂️
- It’s a bummer as I’ve been recommending them to fellow language learning nerds for 5+ years.
- Massively in love with Seattle today. Walked from 23rd and Yesler down Yesler (first time in maybe 8 years) and all the new development is awesome. Did 3 laps on the waterfront. Rode Monorail to Seattle Center. Now grabbing a bite before the Torrent game. Sunny winter days are the best.
- Spun back up my personal site in the new year. Mostly old 2020 content but going through and finishing old drafts from 5 years ago with newish thoughts. One thought which has only further solidified: why different threat actor naming schemas per company is good. piffey.net/writing/2026...
- Tl;dr visibility, scope, thin slicing, specificity > overloaded
- Been getting some real fire off the YouTube random algorithm lately. Don’t know if Google changed it up or what. A 🧵
- Boko Yout, Swedish band, and this whole album GUSTO is great. Probably my favorite of the tracks though.
- I already loved Viagra Boys but had somehow missed the new album. I also didn’t know about big bodies and now I do. Another all the way through going album.

- Pre-coffee brain cross this morning: “You know that old Lifetime show or whatever Harley Quinn Medicine Woman.”
- Is there anyone building a Discourse-like equivalent on ATProto right now? A forum of any kind?
- Reposted by piffeywe’re living through the national version of that conversation where you’re like, hey, I don’t think grandpa should be driving anymore, but our cousins are all like, fuck that, give him the keys! grandpa rules! I bet he could drive 1000 miles per hour!
- Vibe coding new firmware for a random Chinese ESP32-based eInk device so that I can have a pocketable eInk Anki. I still dislike AI for its social effects but it’s certainly made it possible for me to explore spaces like hardware where I don’t have enough experience to whip out a weekend project.
- Someone should organize a rogue night market at Pike Place since the market association won’t do it.
- Seeing this making the rounds again as there’s a restored version being shown in NYC. A pleasure rewatching over morning coffee. Love me a good, well-used urban plaza. youtu.be/5QkJkT3M-Us?...
