- Working with Peter on this book has been especially rewarding, meaningful...and therapeutic. We had no idea just how sadly relevant #ScienceUnderSiege would be when we set out to write the book a year and a half ago.

- Sounds like someone used AI to create their report. If I published this as a scientist, no one would ever believe me again. It would have repercussions for my grants and job. If I were tenure-track I would not get tenure. 1/2 www.nytimes.com/2025/05/29/w...

- I teach a paleontology course where a large component is scientific writing. I highly recommend all @danhf.bsky.social says. I also scaffold the larger writing assignment…small chunks are easier to work with & it’s how most scientists I know actually write…it also reduces the pressure to turn to AI.

- I agree. It’s a modified gray wolf clone. This whole thing leaves me feeling ill. Mammals have to learn a lot from adults as they grow. When all the adults of a species are dead, there’s no recreating their behavior. Sounds like this was more about what the researchers can do than about the animal.
