- I'm not feeling too Olympic-y right now. Mostly cause I'm tired having been dealing with family health concerns (including cats - they are family too!) since Christmas. Maybe I should glance at what's coming up though and get into it a bit.
- There's quality of life in JRPGs and then there's hand holding to the point you aren't even playing the game yourself anymore. I think some of these requests fall under the category of people not actually knowing what they really want to make the games better.
- "I can't stand finding locked chests before I have the key! What happened to QoL?" This is embarrassing people. What on earth is the point of having locked chests at all if they only are found after you have the required key?

- This seems to be GOG's response to their ongoing generative AI usage from a recent AMA. Despite a lot of pushback on their forums, social media, and direct complaints they seem to have no intention of changing their approach. Disappointing.

- I'd don't understand the auto manufacturers in Canada. They don't want the EV mandate. They scarp EV production shifts. Yet more and more people world wide are going to EVs. They have to be able to compete in that market to survive. It's a repeat of the last bailout again.
- Nintendo Direct highlights for me today (short 🧵): The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales: First HD2D style action adventure game? Sounds good!
- Reposted by Trevor 🍁🇨🇦this is a great point and to that end: why isn't Anthropic building a salesforce competitor or whatever? Surely they could with the magic of Claude Code based on all the crap I've read
- Reposted by Trevor 🍁🇨🇦Nintendo: releases fastest-selling console ever, revenues double year-over-year. Stock price? Down 60% in 6-months. Tesla: profits fall 46% in 2025, expected to be even worse in 2026 due to expired tax credits. Stock price? Up 30% in 6-months and 90% in 12-months. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
- I enjoyed pondering over the Betrayal at Krondor wordlock chests and figuring out solutions in Quest for Glory, King's Quest, and Syberia. The Lufia 2 dungeon puzzles were fun interludes.
- I must be an outlier but I actually like difficult puzzles and combat that makes you have engage with the game's systems in an calculated manor to succeed. It makes the systems feel useless if you can make your entire team gadabouts and sail through the game anyway. At least make it an option.
- "As a long time Dragon Quest fan the thing that makes me happiest to read is that they’ve cut out all the unnecessary stuff from the 3DS version." That does not sound like a long time Dragon Quest fan. To each their own but cut content being the best aspect of a remake is odd for a fan.
- Carve Groups w/ Sync Points look pretty useful. And Marmoset Toolbag offers a perpetual license!

- Firefox will become an AI browser but because of overwhelming backlash they are putting a menu in to disable the AI browser side of their browser. How about... oh I don't know... don't make Firefox an AI browser?

- Dragon Quest 3 HD2D was an amazing 10/10 experience. Dragon Quest 1&2 HD2D topped it. Somehow they did it. The team understood what makes Dragon Quest special and they nailed it. They enhanced the originals while maintaining respect for them. A rather daunting challenge.
- This is what I feared. I love Dragon Quest and I will love this game but... You cannot have an epic, world saving adventure when the most epic thing you do is follow the most basic paint-by-numbers on screen prompts. Challenge makes the adventure! The lore hits harder. Victory feels worth it.
- While Dragon Quest VII Reimagined still encapsulates much of what makes Dragon Quest VII resonant, efforts to streamline the adventure succeed at the expense of player discovery. Our review: rpgsite.net/review/19437-dragon…
- Life Bottle Production has released a full English patch for Tales of Phantasia on the PSP (the version that came with Narikiri Dungeon X). This is generally considered to be the best version of Tales of Phantasia so it's a good way to visit/revisit this classic!
- Why is when people review performance of games on PC they use a Steam Deck and / or ROG Ally? They are nice and all but they aren't really representative of desktop PC performance.

- It's frustrating these days when opinions are categorized as influenced entirely by news, politics, misinformation, ignorance, etc. It seems completely lost on some that people can have genuine opinions they formed themselves based on experience and knowledge.
- Reposted by Trevor 🍁🇨🇦Anthropic being honest about the damage they’re doing is probably the result of them reading my popular science book which they stole.
- “We found that using AI assistance led to a statistically significant decrease in mastery.” Props to Anthropic for studying the effects of their creation and reporting results that are not probably what they wished for www.anthropic.com/research/AI-...
- Reposted by Trevor 🍁🇨🇦I think the upcoming (heavily rumored) Nintendo Partner Showcase could have at least two Square Enix announcements. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined releases next week and The Adventures of Elliot is the only other game with a 2026 release date. They are due.

- I do like the job costumes in the 3DS version of DQ7 but I think in Mervyn's case his default appearance is better than all the basic job costumes. Hopefully the advanced ones do him more justice!
- Finally the chosen champion himself joins the fray!
- I think Sir Mervyn, whom I'm about to recruit in my playthru of DQ7 3DS, is my favorite player character in this game.

- First they ask you to fund their efforts for game preservation. Then when they announce games preserved under this program (Final Fantasy) they can't be bothered to pay an artist to produce a banner for them. They resort to cheap AI slop. Way to alienate your patrons and primary customer base, GOG!

- So I see GOG are hiding replies complaining about their generative AI usage. The companies feel the backlash and are trying to hide it till it goes away. It hurts their sales. It hurts their reputation. And for what? So they can save a few short term $?
