clarifying for non-experts a bit:
a) there is no vaccine-autism link.
b) lots of antivaxxers (eg RFK) promote a vaccine-autism link (which is false)
c) JB acknowledged no vaccine-autism link…
d) …using squishy language, eg "[no] single vaccine causes autism" & “other vaccines are less well studied”
Mike Johnson speaks out against the use of judicial warrants in immigration cases:
"Imagine if we had to go through the process of getting a judicial warrant"
The GOP conception of public health is no public health.
Florida is a testing ground for these deeply irresponsible, dangerous policies—a model red states all across the country.
Ladapo is an anti-vaxxer.
“Let me completely make up a fictional scenario, where a Republican is the victim, as always, and Democrats are evil for not protecting the fictional Republican I just made up”
Ron Johnson on Ilhan Omar getting attacked: "Let's talk about how crazy this is. Had that been a Republican member of Congress and an illegal immigrant spraying something at them, in Minneapolis what would probably happen is they would release that illegal immigrant."
I’m overwhelmed and deeply saddened by the countless tragedies on display. I watched the video and read about yet another victim — Alex Pretti, a fellow ICU nurse — who, by all reasonable accounts, did what any of us should do in the face of such cruelty. He tried to help, and was executed for it.
I keep thinking about my colleagues and myself in the ER. We protect patient privacy for people of all walks of life on a regular basis. Am I or others going to be killed for doing the bare minimum that our jobs require?
I’m completely fed up with elected Representatives saying shit like, “Republicans will tell you behind closed doors that they don’t agree with what ICE is doing”.
Playtime is over. Professional courtesy no longer exists.
Name them, record them, and make it public.
The government is taking people who’ve done everything the right way, and who go to every appointment and fill out every piece of paperwork and abducting and hauling them to Texas and making them start the whole process over again
After review, it's a common foul on Stew. Brunson will try to complete the 4-point play. Even after the make, Knicks are only shooting 3-17 from the floor this quarter. Pistons have been great defensively
I’m going to The Game today and the walk up has been a tad tense lol. A group of Buckeyes were talking shit and an older lady in M gear said “JD Vance is from Ohio and he’s an asshole. So you must be too.”
This rivalry 😂
The world is an absolute dumpster fire, but my favorite team since I was a kid is the second-best team in the NBA with the longest active win streak. This team plays with so much heart every single night. Whew.
Trump is withholding funding that’s *already there* for SNAP. They’re using hunger as a political weapon by choice.
While federal Republicans willingly let kids go hungry, we passed $70M in the State Senate to do what we can.
Happy #EmergencyNursesWeek to my fellow ER badasses who keep showing up through rain or shine, full moon, or code brown (and sometimes all of the above 💩). I wrote this three years ago and still stand by it, especially as more is asked of us. “We’ll figure it out,” but more people need to listen.
Today marks the first day in public media’s history without federal funding. And we’re not going anywhere.
Listeners like you keep our mission alive. Protect one of the last places where America comes together to hear itself.

With most Medicare #telehealth coverage now suspended as of today, after the expiration of a federal rule, here's a reminder of recently published findings by our team about how virtual care has become part of routine care for older adults: ihpi.umich.edu/news-events/...
This mindset contributes to the mental health crisis in vet med. Yes veterinary care has gotten incredibly expensive, and we can blame private equity takeover for a lot of it. Prices aren’t rising because of unnecessary $30 jabs.
Just utterly ignorant and offensive anti-vax propaganda.
The fact that you can have all of these organizations calling for Kennedy's resignation (or the NYTimes op-ed by 9 former CDC directors) and it having so little discernible impact is a sign of how far the US has moved from valuing scientific advice and expertise and how big a challenge it faces...
*takes a deep breath*
It’s the guns.
It’s the guns.
It’s the guns.
It’s the guns.
Trying to turn this tragedy into "the left hates prayer" tactic does not change the fact that the lives lost to gun violence are avoidable, & the GOP has done nothing.
Sincerely,
Your friendly neighborhood ER nurse
Lori Chavez-DeRemer: "Mr President, I invite you see your big beautiful face on a banner in front of the Department of Labor because you are really the transformational president of the American worker, along with the American flag and President Roosevelt."
Feel like this needs a spotlight: employees were told that the shooting at CDC, which left an officer dead and buildings riddled with bullets, was targeted at agency, @lenasun.bsky.social, @laurenweberhp.bsky.social and @tobiaraji.bsky.social report
Years of anti-CDC rhetoric has consequences
If you’re wondering why so many of us in healthcare feel more unsafe than ever, look at the avoidable tragedies at places like Emory. The same people who fanned the flames of baseless conspiracy theories now hold the matches — and they don’t give a damn who or what burns next.
CNN on Emory Shooting: Police are operating under the theory that the shooter either was sick or believed that he was sick, and blamed the illness on the covid vaccine
The conspiracy garbage spewed by RFK Jr. and other “wellness” influencers is now turning into real policy, and among other things — stealing focus from the actual inequities that affect social determinants of health in our communities.
“Medicaid Cuts Will Be a Disaster for ERs- Many Americans get much of their health care from ERs. Defunding this service will bring financial and human ruin.”
Here’s a brief timeline cleanser for you: our puppy Ollie’s smile that looks like an elementary school photo with his missing baby teeth 😂 🥹

Protecting his stock portfolio while ripping away health care from 17 million Americans.
This is Washington at its worst.
We need to ban Congressional stock trading.
‼️ Y'all, House Republican leadership just told their members to go back to their offices. The floor has emptied. They don't even have the votes to pass the procedural Rule that's needed to get to a passage vote on the bill. 👀
There's still time to make noise --> 5calls.org
Emergency rooms are overcrowded. Patients face discharge delays due to limited rehab and nursing facility availability. Primary care and specialty appointments take months. Now, its about to get even worse for everyone as Republicans prioritize the pockets of billionaires over their communities.
If you're an #EmergencyMedicine doctor in these states, COVID 2020 would have been walk in the park:
1. Texas (80 closures, 30 imminent)
2. Kansas (62 closures, 31 imminent)
3. Oklahoma (39 closures, 26 imminent)
4. Mississippi (35 closures, 25 imminent)

Senator Chris Van Hollen: Republicans in Congress just live in constant fear of a Donald Trump tweet. And so far, their fear of Donald Trump's tweets has sort of outweighed their concerns for what their constituents are going to have to suffer.
In Tommy Tuberville's home state of Alabama, 23% of all personal income comes from transfer payments from the federal government.
Alabama is the tenth most dependent on federal funding, getting $1.80 in spending back for every $1 its citizens pay in taxes.

The left better start figuring out how to weaponize today's decision rather than just (rightfully) criticizing it.
- Go back into Judge Kaczmaryk's court to dissolve all of his nationwide orders.
- Pass gun bans and insist any order applies only to plaintiffs.
according to conservatives on the court, the constitution does not protect your right to your own body but does enable the government to ship you off to a foreign gulag without any hope of return
You Gov numbers: "Only 16% of Americans think the U.S. military should get involved in the conflict between Israel and Iran; 60% say it should not and 24% are not sure"
It's going to change quickly, but let's at least remember where we started.

Chris: "You emailed everyone at City Hall and told them to come to club that you own to buy alcohol that you invented. Government employees can’t use their power to enhance their personal wealth."
The silence from hospital administrators nationwide, as Republicans attempt to eliminate insurance coverage for nearly a quarter of Americans, is absolutely baffling.
Your jobs won't be safe when budgets get tighter and hospitals close, y’all.
RFK Jr. promised under oath not to take away vaccine access. He broke that promise again today.
ACIP determines which vaccines are covered by major insurers. Replacing career civil servants w/political appointees (or disbanding ACIP altogether) will reduce access for *millions of Americans*
Firearm Laws and Pediatric Mortality in the US.

There’s a lot of bad news right now, so here are some pictures I took of our puppy, Ollie, posing like a good boy in front of flowers around our house today.
Northwestern has not received any NIH funds since March. No written communication about why or what can be done. Thank you Ben Singer for raising awareness at #ATS2025
‘U is for Union!’: Sesame Workshop Workers Win NLRB Election
Organizing with the Office and Professional Employees International Union Local 153, workers endured aggressive anti-union actions on the part of management in order to secure Thursday's win.
Today was a great first clinical day for Michigan State’s Clinical Nurse Specialist master's program, specifically in the Trauma-Burn ICU. Looking forward to a semester of learning from an excellent CNS and unit staff!
AOC: The math is not adding up. Their claim is that one million undocumented people are on Medicaid. So why are they trying to cut 13.7 million Americans off their healthcare?
RFK JR has obviously never been bedside as a child dies. I have. I remember every death. The anguished screams of the family. The faces of my team, who have done our best, realizing it’s not enough. We look at each other searching, any idea? And the solemn silence when we all shake our head no.
This is from the same president and party that had 4+ years to come up with an alternative and still haven’t. Their only plan is to tear the entire industry down, let people suffer, just like they have with everything else, and only build up the pockets of the most wealthy. That's it.
So @jessmillarmd.medsky.social and I did something yesterday: welcomed a four-legged friend into our family! Meet Ollie, an Australian shepherd mix! He’s calm but playful & loves his stuffed elephant. Thank you to the wonderful people at Huron Valley Humane Society for bringing Ollie into our lives!
Your daily reminder that it is our judicial system that decides if someone is a criminal, not the criminal President or his minions in the executive branch.
Cruz said finally it. Without any evidence, Cruz says they’re going to cut Medicare benefits because “blue states have exploited the system.” Even more are going to suffer because the GOP thinks certain people don’t deserve healthcare. These people are so damn cruel.
Ted Cruz: "I think we are gonna see significant Medicaid reforms as Congress takes on budget reconciliation and extends the tax cuts ... states like California and NY have really exploited the Medicaid system, exploited the federal taxpayers, and I think we're gonna see Congress crack down."

From day one to ten years in—through countless IVs, Zofrans, triages, EKGs, and shifts across multiple ERs—I’m still very proud to be a nurse. Now more than ever, patients and healthcare workers deserve safety and dignity in every care setting. I’ll continue to advocate for both. #NursesWeek
A bit of advice for hospital leadership: less nurses week cake and emails, more policy changes (like smaller nurse-to-patient ratios) that actually improve patient care and staff retention.
