Earthjustice Action
Environmental laws are only as strong as the judges who uphold them.
- Later this month, Trump will give the first State of the Union address of his second term. He won’t tell the full story, so we’re giving you the real state of our union as it relates to what’s at stake for environmental and public health protections, starting with state courts.

- Thank you @reppaultonko.bsky.social for fighting to protect key safeguards against coal ash. Rolling back coal ash rules would undo critical public health protections to the benefit of polluters.
- The Boundary Waters is home to over 1,100 pristine lakes, diverse wildlife, and unspoiled forests. Let’s keep it protected for future generations. We cannot have toxic mining next to this unique Wilderness. #SaveTheBWCA

- Thank you to @rephuffman.bsky.social, @debbiedingell.house.gov, and @beyer.house.gov for leading this letter in support of the Endangered Species Act. - Reposted by Earthjustice ActionOne year after some of the deadliest and most destructive wildfires in state history tore through Los Angeles, families are still reeling, businesses are still recovering, and communities are still rebuilding—yet the Trump admin continues to withhold critical disaster relief and deny climate change.

- 25 years ago today, the Roadless Rule was created to protect millions of acres of public lands against clear-cutting. A tremendous outpouring of support helped put the rule in place, and it remains highly popular today – but the Trump administration is trying to undo it.
- Trump and his allies have spent the last year trying to roll back environmental progress, but we are stronger, louder, and more determined than ever. The courts matter. The laws matter. Your voice matters. We won’t let these attempts to drag us back decades go unchallenged.
- "The end goal is clear: Rig the system to pad their profit margins while silencing everyday people—especially pollution‑burdened communities—subsequently denying our communities a voice in what happens to their health and environment." - 🔊 "The SPEED Act will only result in an abundance of contaminated air and water, dirty projects and chronic illnesses, with fewer opportunities to hold polluters accountable in court." More on why the SPEED Act is so dangerous 👇 apnews.com/article/nepa...
- The SPEED Act is up for a vote in the House tomorrow. This bill is astonishingly reckless and irresponsible, gutting a bedrock environmental law based on the false notion that it puts up unnecessary red tape, not crucial protections for our communities. earthjusticeaction.org/news/dont-le...
- TOMORROW: The House is set to vote on a bill that would make it easier for mining companies to recklessly pollute and destroy our public lands. Write to your representatives TODAY and urge them to vote no on the Mining Regulatory Clarity Act! earthjusticeaction.org/stopdirtymin...
- The PERMIT Act passed the House last week, but the fight's not over. Congress is trying to ram through a vote on the SPEED Act THIS WEEK, and we want them to know their constituents won't stand for it. Fight back against this dangerous bill today. earthjusticeaction.org/action/tell-...
- TOMORROW: The House will vote on the first of two bad bills that would eviscerate our bedrock environmental laws and put our clean air, clean water, and communities at risk. Write a letter today and tell them to vote NO on the SPEED and PERMIT Acts: earthjusticeaction.org/action/tell-...
- While we were disappointed to see the dangerous PERMIT Act pass the House yesterday, we're grateful for members like @jayapal.house.gov pushing back against the bill and standing up for the Clean Water Act.

- Thanks to @cantwell.senate.gov and @gallego.senate.gov for supporting our wild forests by cosponsoring the #RoadlessAreaConservationAct. Our roadless forests protect wildlife, provide clean water and are great for hiking, camping, climbing and more. #SaveRoadless
- As Congress considers permitting reform proposals, we need your help to ensure they aren't putting our bedrock environmental laws on the chopping block. Act now and demand permitting reform that puts people over polluters: earthjusticeaction.org/action/fight...
- Last night, the House overturned Biden-era protections that safeguarded millions of acres of the Western Arctic and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil and gas drilling. We will continue fighting for some of the last truly wild places in the country. earthjusticeaction.org/news/congres...
- The EPA's Office of Research and Development has been responsible for some of the greatest advances in our understanding of the relationship between pollution and disease. Administrator Zeldin's continued dismantling of ORD puts all that and more at risk. earthjusticeaction.org/news/epa-put...
- The shutdown is over, but the damage remains. Here are four ways Republicans have harmed the environment since October 1, even as House Republicans gave themselves an extended seven-week vacation.
- Rising asthma rates, soaring energy costs, and worsening air quality. These are just some of the ways Trump's so-called "energy emergency" is making life harder for local communities by forcing outdated coal plants to stay open. coloradonewsline.com/2025/10/28/t...
- How are Senate Republicans spending their time during the shutdown? By overturning key protections limiting oil and gas drilling in the Arctic. Read why our team is calling this decision "shameful": abcnews.go.com/US/senate-vo...
- As of today, the government shutdown is the longest in U.S. history. While thousands of Americans struggle, Republicans are: -Confirming anti-environmental judges -Greenlighting projects that exclusively help polluting industries -Using arcane procedures to overturn protections on our public lands
- We submitted comments to the EPA opposing the proposed repeal of the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, which provides important data on how pollution impacts local communities. The climate crisis is a public health crisis; eliminating this would further both. earthjusticeaction.org/news/groups-...
- Everyday Americans are struggling to make ends meet during the Republican-caused government shutdown. However, the Trump administration continues to prioritize handouts for polluting industries, all to meet a sham "energy emergency." www.nytimes.com/2025/10/17/c...
- The Republican playbook as of late: 1) Sell out public lands by passing Trump's big, ugly budget bill. 2) Cause a government shutdown. 3) Use antiquated legislative procedures to put even more public lands at risk. 4) Do all of this instead of prioritizing funding the government.
- Thank you @rephuffman.bsky.social and @repyassansari.bsky.social for demanding answers from federal agencies on why they've continued non-essential services that help industries like oil and coal while furloughing essential services and thousands of employees. earthjusticeaction.org/news/earthju...
- This is now the second-longest government shutdown in modern history. Help us hold Republican leadership accountable for putting people's health and livelihoods at risk.
- Trump forced this shutdown, but we can still prevent the worst of its effects from taking hold. While our team is on the ground on Capitol Hill, we need you to make members of Congress listen to those who matter most: their constituents. Take action now. earthjusticeaction.org/action/deman...

- Write to your members of Congress TODAY and tell them to vote NO on the Fix Our Forests Act. It would undermine forests and endangered species protections, harm drinking water, and worsen deadly wildfires. Don't let them and Trump give industry a handout. earthjusticeaction.org/action/this-...
- New border wall construction waivers from the Dept. of Homeland Security disregard virtually all laws governing contracting and procurement. This unprecedented action opens the door to shady backroom deals and puts border communities and ecosystems at risk. earthjusticeaction.org/news/earthju...
- Even causing a government shutdown won't stop Republicans from giving handouts to oil, gas, coal, and mining interests. This latest move by the Senate makes it clear that Republican priorities lie with their favored industries, not the people. earthjusticeaction.org/news/earthju...
- Trump's big, bad budget bill is already proving devastating for local communities. Forcing Hopi officials to choose who does or doesn't get power — all so Republicans can pay for tax cuts for billionaires — is unconscionable.
- First, Trump and Republicans in Congress cause a government shutdown. Next, Trump targets Democratic states in a blatant act of political retaliation meant to deprive those that live there of low energy costs, good-paying jobs, and more. It's unacceptable. earthjusticeaction.org/news/earthju...

- Reposted by Earthjustice ActionThe rollback of the 2009 endangerment finding ignores decades of proven science that greenhouse gas emissions harm public health. @velazquez.house.gov & I led a letter with our New York colleagues today demanding EPA put the health and safety of our communities first—not the profits of Big Oil.
