- Exploring the universe of species names has been really fun. I always assumed that genera would be shared across species more often than epithets. It makes sense, right? A genus can include many species, while the epithet is supposed to be more, well, “specific.” 😅 (1/2)
- Starting a 6-month secondment at @mncn-csic.bsky.social (🇪🇸). Super glad to be joining @jhortal.bsky.social and his amazing team to advance our project #MarineGaps.
- Dear ecologists 🌎 Which journals in ecology (or related fields) offer editor mentoring programs? I know about Journal of Applied Ecology, ESA Editorial Fellow, and ASLO Editorial Fellow. Any others that early-career researchers should track for future calls?
- Finished off this year's conference season at #BESMacro2025. What an amazing experience! Great talks, incredible people, and plenty of networking opportunities. If you're into macroecology and get the chance, don't miss it next year!
- Continuing the conference season, I'm in Bodø 🇳🇴 for the 58th European Marine Biology Symposium #EMBS2025. If you're into large-scale marine diversity patterns, come say hi! 😊
- Excited for the LifeWatch Biodiversity & Ecosystem eScience Conference starting tomorrow! If you're into biodiversity data standardization and taxonomic harmonization, come check out my talk on July 1st in the 𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘵: 𝘉𝘪𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 session. #BEeS
- Had a great time at the @lifewatcheric.bsky.social #BEeS2025 conference! It was a pleasure to present the L.A.N.A. framework and receive such positive feedback. Looking forward to sharing more details officially soon. Thanks to everyone involved in making it happen!

- That moment of consternation when you read the abstract of a just-published paper and realize it's strikingly similar to your current project.

- Last week I visited the Center for Marine Studies (UFPR), Brazil 🇧🇷, to share recent works on marine LDG, sampling bias and some ongoing projects. It was so nice to return to this place full of good memories and catch up with old friends 😁.
- Fieldwork is underway in southern Brazil, where I'm sampling eDNA with @marciakurtz.bsky.social for the 𝐺𝑙𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑙 𝑆𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑦 𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ 𝑀𝑒𝑖𝑜𝑓𝑎𝑢𝑛𝑎 𝐷𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑦 survey, an international effort led by @jnmscience.bsky.social. 🌎🏖️🧬 During the first week, we worked along the stunning Santa Catarina coast.

- [New paper] Fundamental questions in meiofauna research. Stimulating to see growing interest in macroecological questions in the meiofaunal field, especially in strategies to improve data quality for large-scale studies. Check it out 👇 doi.org/10.1038/s420...

- Exciting first day of #IODC3 with many great presentations! Some tools showcased include the Beacon data lake beacon.maris.nl and the OBIS sdm dashboard shiny.obis.org/distmaps. Also, an important message from Erika Cadavid on strengthening the @obis.org Network in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- The International Ocean Data Conference #IODC3 began today. Super interesting start with Marcos Zárate talking about the OBISBot tool, using AI to access OBIS data. obis-bot.streamlit.app #Oceandata, #ODIS, #TheDataWeNeedForTheOceanWeWant
