It’s really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, I feel hopeful in this room and we need to keep protesting… fuck ICE.”

The Media studies discipline and much of the left should reflect on the power given to this one flawed man to shape generations of thought.

- Reposted by Kevin BruyneelPeople need to stop pretending the U.S. government isn’t actively rebranding as a white supremacist movement. 🚨 The Trump administration has rolled out a coordinated campaign across departments, using imagery and messaging straight from right-wing and white nationalist circles. This isn’t subtle.

- The Venn diagram of those with who fly the "Don't Tread on Me" Gadsden flag and those who defend, even celebrate, ICE's killing of Renee Nicole Good is a complete circle. No group is more in favor of violent government repression than gun toting 2Aers with a victim complex.

- Hmm, what should I write today? An argument against colonialism's shaping force on capitalism or a defense of Chomsky's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein? What's that? Take a nap you say, have a cookie, do a Wordle, do just about anything else... um, yeah, probably wise.

- Yes, all of this - I teach the exact same social movement principles/practices in a radical politics class - 👇 - it's clear some of these commentators have never studied social movement history.
- Reposted by Kevin BruyneelIn social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
- Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.
