- Reposted by Maarten De BrauwerThis is on TOP of previous delays. Linkage R2 was supposed to be announced in December, delayed to Feb/March, and now March/June. That's a 6 month delay from the original start time planned with industry. This is why we look like a joke to industry!

- Reposted by Maarten De BrauwerTo add context, part of why there were so many more applicants is because they moved DECRA back six months, effectively skipping funding the scheme for a year. They had to extend eligibility as a result, so this was essentially two years in one. But with no adjustment to number of grants awarded.

- Here's a report from Jenny Sinclair @jsresearchpro.bsky.social on the low success rate for DECRAs this week, driven by high demand and low Government funding for early career researchers in Australia. [Free article in @resprofnews.bsky.social]
- Reposted by Maarten De Brauwer🧵1/9 There are 35,000+ fish species, but we have formal social-behaviour classifications for a tiny fraction. Most knowledge lives in the experience of researchers, fishers, divers, aquarists, naturalists, and Indigenous communities, but almost none of it is centralised. So we built ShoalBase.org.
