- I’m sympathetic to Elie’s argument, but I believe that while Trump’s pardons are clearly worse than Biden’s, Biden’s pardon won’t affect the shitshow that’s coming from Trump, and I would pardon my child, we should want our Presidents to be better than we are and pardoning a family member is bad.

- Unpopular (no pun intended) opinion: Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth should not have appeared in the Wicked film. I am a huge fan of them both, and of the musical. But seeing them in the film was distracting and immediately took me out of the story.
- Two things can be correct at the same time. Garland absolutely moved way too slowly against Trump (I don’t agree with the great Allison Gill’s arguments to the contrary) and this Supreme Court wasn’t going to allow Trump’s prosecution under any circumstances.

- With all the talk about Democratic states needing better governance, the lowest hanging fruit is for California to implement a system to count votes much faster. Similar to “broken windows” theory, the inability to efficiently do the basics of vote counting sends a message of overall incompetence.
- I enjoy MSNBC but it’s like watching the boy who cried, “Breaking News.” Their overuse of the Breaking News chyron has become silly at this point.
