The 7thC Holderness Cross was discovered by a farmer at Burton Pidsea, East Yorkshire,
#OTD in 1965. It spent 30 years in a drawer before his granddaughter took it to a ‘finds day’ at a museum in Hull. The gold pectoral cross is set with garnets.

#Bells. In Dunblane Cathedral lie two bells, smaller of which has words inscribed, "Founded by Lieutenant-General Drummond in the year 1687.” He was a friend of Robert Leighton, & architect of Leighton Library, completed in 1687
Very sorry to hear this. His work is very much admired on a regular basis at the Cathedral.
I'm sorry to hear of the death of the sculptor, carver and letterer Richard Kindersley, who followed in his father David's footsteps at his Cambridge workshop. He'll be best known to many people for his beautiful memorial in Dunblane Cathedral to the young victims of the 1996 school shooting.
