- Glasgow's "Mackintosh Halls" has been put up for sale by the Church of Scotland for the first time ever. The hall and neighbouring janitor's house were designed by the celebrated architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the adjacent red sandstone church was the work of Neil Campbell Duff. (🧵1/3)

- A huge thank you to Peter and Lynnette, from the Inverclyde Church Recorders, who took a trip 'Doon the Watter' at the weekend to document some of the items in Trinity Parish Church in Rothesay. The church closed last year and is in the process of being converted to an "adventure and social centre"

- The Parish Church of Kilwinning was built in 1773-75, by stonemasons John Garland and John Swan, on the site of Kilwinning Abbey which was founded in 1188. Our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek celebrated its 250th anniversary at the end of 2024. 🧵1/3

- The Friends of Wamphray Church, in Dumfries & Galloway, are trying to save their 192 year old building, whose architect William McGowan, incorporated an incredible early medieval carved stone dragon into its door lintel. Read more about this remarkable church here 👇 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

- The UK Govt's are ending the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme, that covered the whole UK, replacing it with a scheme for England alone. - The interior of St Ninian's Episcopal, Alyth which is our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, is very attractive and has some beautiful stained glass for #WindowsOnWednesday. Three windows in the chancel are by O’Connor (c.1860) while the wheel window, in the west gable, is by the firm Clayton & Bell. 🧵1/2

- Glasgow residents and community groups have called on the Church of Scotland to "to pause the sale" of the historic Gairbraid Church in Maryhill to allow a public consultation on a possible community buyout, business plan and funding bid. - A neat little Neo-Norman church, built of red sandstone with a slate roof is our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek. St Ninian's Episcopal in Alyth was designed by noted Edinburgh architect David Bryce in 1857. It has a nave, chancel with apse and a striking square tower, capped with a pyramidal roof. 🧵1/2

- Having been marketed for sale last May, the final service has now been held in Saltoun Parish Church. The ancient rural East Lothian kirk was substantially rebuilt in 1805. Its Laird's Aisle sits over the burial vault of the Fletchers of Saltoun. Story 👇 www.eastlothiancourier.com/news/2578339...
