- Yet more pointless, despicable cultural vandalism of public property by Republicans in their all-out war on the very idea of general knowledge
- The CIA World Factbook, a reliable source of information about the countries of the world, has been publicly available since 1997. It is now going away. Please consider supporting @wikipedia.org and @ourworldindata.org. The world desperately needs trustworthy data. www.cia.gov/stories/stor...
- I've said this before: the way math is taught to children is usually entirely computational, math that a calculator can help with. Full of numbers, no proofs. In other words, the *exact* kind of math that'll traumatize people with dyscalculia. That'll traumatize them into avoiding math.

- This is the piece of the puzzle people are zooming past that I think bears repeating. There will be violence. People will be hurt or worse. At scale? No. But even the death of one person just trying to vote should be an unacceptable number. Dismantling ICE immediately stops this from being a concern

So I'll just quote the man directly: "This is the first instance in the history of the United States that a Black man addressed a white audience."
- I'm not saying ONE SPEECH is SOLELY responsible for 3 HBCUs, an anti-racist town, defeating a federal detention policy or creating one of our greatest poets All I'm saying is: If all this happened literally the FIRST TIME white people listened to Black people... Maybe we should try it again

- The marshals contacted Price & told him to meet them a few miles away in Wellington for a job. They kidnapped him, hid him at a hotel, & waited for the train. When the old Oberlin Crew found out, they sent the trustee's kid home & said: "Let's go stop these MFs" Y'all... THE WHOLE TOWN rode out

- In less than a week the Kennedy Center has effectively closed and our local DC paper has been gutted, both by billionaires. I don’t think immigrants are our problem in this country.

- Great read. An ICE attorney working for DOJ temporarily explains that ICE has no clue how all of this "federal court" stuff works and makes clear that both ICE and DOJ were totally unprepared for the flood of habeases that were the inevitable result of the Minneapolis raids.
