At home in the upper Midwest. Retired from the University of Michigan and enjoying life in Ann Arbor, a great college town!
I believe in democracy, scientific methods, environmental responsibility, diversity, equity and inclusion (in some order).

- Cancel Paramount e.g. if you have a subscription for its streaming service, cancel that.

- Trump's war on the USA has started to cause problems in construction and agriculture because the people who do a lot of labor for us are deported, in detention or in hiding. Surely Trump supporters will volunteer for farm work and construction jobs. It's the patriotic thing to do, right? [1/2]
- Male voice on phone identified himself as an officer of Customs and Border Protection. Asking about a suspicious package allegedly sent by me to El Paso, TX. Seemed like a scammer. Hard to understand his voice. I tried to call CPB. More in comments. ...
- YOU'RE FIRED TRUMP! If only there was a way we (the People) could make that happen!

- Let me understand the chronology. The US VP flies to Rome in hopes of a photo op with the pope, whose health is shaky at best. The Vatican sets up a meeting with a high-ranking cardinal, but that doesn't satisfy the US VP. He insists on a photo op with the pope. [1] [more in comments]

- First steps of Project 2027. 1) Recover control of Congress in 2026 by electing people who are committed to returning Democracy to USA. 2) Use impeachment and/or the 25th Amendment to recover control of the Executive Branch. Step 2 should be apparent to voters leading up to Step 1.

- It is 536 days until the 2026 Midterm Elections. That is the next chance we have to elect people to Congress who will help restore our democracy by impeaching Trump, Vance and a few other people. We must start that process now!

- 3/ Wondering: Should I write again now to see whether President Musk knows how to use the autopen?
- 2/ A year or so later there was a new president, John Kennedy. I wrote to him also. I got a nice letter back with JFK's signature on it. I don't think he sent a booklet, though. For a year or two, those letters were probably my most prized possessions.
- 1/ When I was about 8 years old, I wrote a letter to President Dwight Eisenhower. I think I asked a few questions that would have been easily answered at my local library. I got back a nice letter signed by the president('s autopen). I also got a booklet about the history of the Republican Party.

- The pope is ailing. News media are starting to ask who might be the next pope. What an old-school question! The real mystery is what Elon Musk will do to control the choice. Will he fire a bunch of cardinals before the vote? The important thing is finding someone acceptable to Trump and Putin.

- 1/ Remember Watergate? A small team of crooks broke into a private office building one night to steal some information. And then the president and a widening circle of Republicans around him spent months trying to cover it up.

- Could we launch an alternative federal government while we wait for the collapse of the US government that Musk and Trump are toiling for. The alternative government could employ people being relieved of their duties (and livelihoods) in the institutions we have depended on as a nation.

- A few Democratic senators voted along with all Republicans to confirm Kristi Noem as head of Homeland Security, a post she is qualified for only in Trump's world. I am most upset because the two senators who represent me (#ElissaSlotkin and #GaryPeters) voted with the Republicans.
