Back to post- Interesting to note that the refineries that are closing are heavy sour crude refineries, the kind that process Canadian crude. As gasoline demand declines, this type of refinery closes first because it's the least profitable. Time for Alberta to diversify its economy.

- Note that the two refineries together process around 284,000 barrels/day of heavy sour crude. As far as I know, heavy sour crude (in the form of dilbit) is the only grade of oil shipped to California from Canada.
