The folks at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists ended today's presentation with a call for a global people's revolution against the maniacs in charge. Well not exactly, but close! @mariaressa.bsky.social was 🔥 thebulletin.org/doomsday-clo...

- In Richmond BC downtown parks & trails have pipes in the ground supplying geothermal ground heat to downtown apartment buildings. We also use sewage heat. The system pays for itself in 17 yrs compared to 80-100 yrs for Site C Dam. Until 2022 I was on the Lulu Island Energy board. Solar should be next
- Time to return to our roots. The Barrett NDP built more Co-op housing than any time in BC history; bought failing companies, Columbia Cellulose & Kootenay Forest products & ran at a profit; BC Ambulance service instead of private ambulances; neighbourhood pubs instead of hotel monopoly; to name a few
- Federally the Green Party has collapsed and the NDP has become liberal. Here's why I support Avi Lewis for NDP leader. To Green supporters and NDP supporters and those who have abandoned the NDP, please join to support Avi Lewis and the best of both parties.
- Carney shouldn't pay any attention to David Eby's lust for LNG. #SiteC Dam destroyed 10,000 acres of the best farmland & produces power for fracking the Montenay gas fields & producing LNG. Exported gas produces far worse emissions than coal major study finds www.nationalobserver.com/2024/10/09/n...
- Elizabeth May is right. We aren't independent of the USA if we have to depend on American corporations to build and operate nuclear and LNG plants.

- Good news! California Refineries Close as Gasoline Demand Slips into Permanent Decline. This should end Alberta's demand for more pipelines. China is already a world leader in solar & ev's. With climate disaster imminent the world will follow California & China cleantechnica.com/2025/09/14/c...

- I left Twitter for Bluesky and then went back. The graph is right. Twitter is much less useful as we no longer have access to all the masses unless we pay Elon to get"verified" However, out of 10,000 friends I still have about 500 scientists & climate activists communicating together on Twitter.

- Earth is crossing the 1.5°C global warming limit, two major studies show. A Canadian study showed that "June last year was the 12th consecutive month above the 1.5C warming level" Since the 1990 IPCC report CO2 emissions are up about 50%. Time has run out. theconversation.com/earth-is-alr...

- Take a stay-cation Sat. & Sun. Aug. 2nd & 3rd. The Forestry vessels that once served the logging industry on the BC Coast are having a rendezvous at the Britannia Shipyard, Steveston. The docks are open, noon to 4PM both days. Then visit the Fishermen's wharf and other Steveston sites.

- Canada is one of the top ten CO2 emitters in the world. But that's not the whole story. Canada exports fossil fuels to other countries, increasing their CO2 emissions. Alberta is intent on building more pipelines and BC is intent on shipping LNG. It is past time to #keepitintheground.

- We reached 1.5C in 2024 & wildfires in Canada & floods in other regions will continue as we stay near that temperature. If El Nino combines with a low air pressure year in the Arctic we could see 2C by 2029 or sometime in 2029-2039. It's past time to #keepitintheground
- Can't quite believe I'm writing this, but a 2C year is now possible this decade* New @wmo-global.bsky.social report is clear: world is warming at an alarming rate & we are in for near record temperatures for the rest of the decade www.newscientist.com/article/2481... *Albeit still very unlikely
