- #SmallBeautiesHour seeing family at the weekend, some very good value daffodils, curlews for #RubbishBirdPics, remembering that it is 5 years since my son sent us surprise coffee and pastries, bringing us joy in deep miserable lockdown
- Reposted by GreenBeanJackieThe Time Ball at the top of the Nelson Monument has been restored recently - that's the wee black ball there not the huge big yellow one. #SnowMoon #Edinburgh
- Welcome #February
- Heron posing beside Water of Leith @wolct.bsky.social @everyheron.bsky.social
- Last January #SixOnSaturday Mostly snowdrops, witchhazel still shining brightly, yellow winter jasmine and just a touch of colour on a single crocus. Plenty of spring joy to come.

When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem. - Hello #GardensHour I've been enjoying the snowdrops at last
- #BigGardenBirdWatch final count in my garden on a grey January day when its been almost dark since about 3.30pm - 1 Robin (a good one though), 2 magpies, 1 blackbird and even only 1 woodpigeon
- Settling down for the #BigGardenBirdWatch Not sure the 30 #curlews on the police HQ playing fields count though. Too far away to photograph but stunning to see
- Mostly snowdrops, daffodils appearing and a friendly garden Robin for #SixOnSaturday
- #GardensHour searching the vaults for summer blues for #BlueMonday Here are some lovely self-seeded borage flowers
- Frosty witchhazel for #FlowersOnFriday on another chilly morning ❄

- Hello @gardenshour.bsky.social not much happening in the garden just now but we had some beautiful frost last week. Snowdrops just peeking through now #GardensHour
- Various birds in the frost and snow for #SmallBeautiesHour- very fluffed up robin (same one I think) and blackbirds eating fallen apples. Back to cold and wet now for the rest of January so will be needing all the #SmallBeauties we can find.
- #SixOnSaturday from yesterday's snowy garden. Mostly gone today but still chilly: snowy pond, rainbow chard, snow on the oak tree, robin in the hedge, viburnum, osteospermum
- #FlowersOnFriday and ny osteospermum continues to flower, even in the snow
- The north wind doth blow and we shall have snow and what will poor Robin do then? Just a sprinkling here but Robin huddling in the hedge. #SmallBeauties
- -4.4c out there this morning ❄ 🥶 beautiful frost and raindrops frozen in time #SmallBeauties
- Taking the Xmas deccies down (we do it on the 6th- that's our tradition - no arguments). New tradition to slaughter the Xmas herby wreath and eat some of it in a pasta sauce
- -4 c this morning ❄ defrosted the bird bath and the garden Robin hopped straight in. A pair of magpies are building a nest in a tall tree behind the garden 🤔 #breakfastBirdWatch
- Blackbirds eating fallen apples on neighboring allotment in a slight dusting of snow #SmallBeauties
- -3c in the garden this morning, watched by a super fluffed up robin ❄
- A #frosty first #SixOnSaturday for 2026: tiny green shoots of crocus and snowdrops, frosty leaves, bright witchhazel, frozen bird bath and a silly flowering osteospermum
- Bit nippy today so have on my lockdown project yarn stash legwarmers, paired with red puffin socks. #knitting

- We had a debate about how best to decorate this Hogmanay dinner roast. Not HNY (cos it isn't yet), not Happy Hogmanay(cos just wrong). We settled on this. #Hogmanay
- As 2025 comes to an end, I've been celebrating all that has gone well (and some things that haven't) in my garden and allotment over on my gardening blog reclaimingparadise.wordpress.com/2025/12/31/r...
- Frosty end to 2025. ❄ make the most of the last day of the year
- Coffee and Christmas cake at the allotment with my son, fixing my tumbledown greenhouse. All set for spring now! 🌱 may hibernate for a bit longer first though
- Ice on water in a bucket this morning. -2 degrees ❄ but the sun is coming up.
- A chilly midwinter last #SixOnSaturday for 2025: witchhazel, wallflower, viburnum, wintersweet, a randomly growing broad bean, yellow chard. I've covered up the bean to protect from forecast frost.
- Hosting #duvetKnowItsChristmas this year with a grown up son and a brother-in-law in relatively comfortable beds, but they will have to fight over the cat, who seems rather unimpressed at the invasion
- Sun setting on Christmas Eve
