Question time! 🤔
How do you fight art blocks and burnt outs when it comes to art?
What helps you to get through it?
How long does yours last?
1/2
2/2
Because of the busy schedule at work, I've been exhausted mentally and physically while still worrying about my clients waiting on commissions for too long.
And while I know that clients don't mind me taking longer if the result is worth it, I still feel bad 😔
How do you fight it?
"Make other art" is the best cure for me! I break out my giant newsprint pad and draw BIG with charcoal, or I play with glitter water colors in a coloring book.
When I have less time I download new and silly colorful pencils and do an hour of figure drawing with rainbow colors or chunky lines.
Making art where the point is the experience of creation, and not the end product, is the goal. If you can change where you're making your art (outside! The library!), even better. If you can do art you're less skilled in, best.
A lot of folk I know do pottery for this.
Best of luck, friend.
That does sound amazing! I need to try and find a moment to draw something traditional to just relax, I think for me time is the issue:/
Time is always the rub :/ I have a kind of crazy work schedule myself, and it also uses creative energy. Finding ways to refill that cup and still make things is. Rough. 🙃
Feb 4, 2026 17:39It really is, I started doing more night shifts and then they rotate them, there's basically no schedule. I draw at any free time I get, but I just feel so burnt out and exhausted and don't really have an option of pausing either 🥲
