𒀭Charlotte but making
I'm @dollblood.garden I like video games
I'll post at least once a week about what nonsense I'm up to
GENERAL TRIGGER WARNINGS APPLY
HERE BE DRAGONS (TRAUMA)
- Really hard dayjob week, will have more on this stuff next week <3 Once the text-based doll torture game is done I'll either move back to flesh RPG or continue on the dolly toybox experience with the mini-dungeon crawler
- I thought I'd have more to say about this, but saving and loading works now. I was expecting that to be more of an undertaking,, I'm using PlayerPrefs which can be pretty expensive, but we're talking about a handful of ints and strings from a text based experience, what could pawsibly go wrong
- Made it so that: - Items can't be used on themselves and you are in fact berated for trying this (you are a stupid doll) - Items require specific key items to trigger specific events - The first part 25% or so of the actual solution is implemented - There are timed consequences involved with Miss
- Back in the saddle today, did some bug fixes with the Use command. I have a list of really specific things to get done so I can implement the full solution, things I missed up til now that will help create some deadends. So, Soon.
- Somehow I keep finding things I want to put into place for gameplay purposes, so! Today I - made all responses and interactions case insensitive in terms of player input - fixed some scroll bar jittering issues that were bugging me - made alternate strings for if you have psychosis / are gaslit
- Worked on some practical things, presentation, making it easier to test, did some mild writing. I'll do more later this week sometime
- Objects can now interact with other objects !!
- Time is a thing now, and I've been working on what the actual solution should be as well as all the fun red herrings i want to include. There's also a system in place for being gaslit.
- It's funny how much effort this was to make sure this was flexible
- Tonight was maybe 20% technical, 80% just actually building the Puzzles because that's going to make or break this. Normally I'd work from puzzles/gameplay intentions backwards but this is Narrative first so I'm doing that part now. That said, Doll (you) can now have States that affect your actions
- Invented the concept of "Outside the room" and made logic around what should happen if something is not in the room
- Tonight's notes will be quick- I created an event trigger that checks for Miss's status changes between responses. I also created some cases for what should happen if you try to do something you can't I lost some time on UI issues tonight but will start on outside the room next time
- Tonight, I created a flow with the keypair dictionary I made last time to use the index of a key and check it against an additional boolean that's set in the inspector to determine if a text event should trigger some kind of int or other change from a list of possible events in a switch statement.
- Made a rudimentary text parsing script that searches for verbs (but not yet their synonyms) and searches your input for the name of an object in the Room. I used a keypair dictionary with the keys being consistent between a boolean array and a string array which will be used for integer changes.
- Change of plans, at least for the short term. The RPG will still be ongoing off and on but I'm going to wait on the puzzle game for a bit for personal reasons. I've started work on a set of smaller games that all have an overarching narrative and it's already going a bit smoother.
- You can't technically get an index of a dictionary keypair without putting the keypairs into a list or something, and I think this issue exists on purpose just to bug me
- Went back in and finished what I started yesterday, I drank coffee for this but I got tired anyway Computer, make a note to remember what mental condition makes caffeine ineffective
- Tonight I was setting up dictionaries and working out how to give puzzle pieces attributes and have that tied to currencies. Because you make your own pieces in this game,
- Was trying to figure out why my colors were off and it's because I was using color instead of color32

- I LOVE BITWISE OPERATORS
- does this to you
- hello I am not making tetris
