- I think season 1 of Fallout felt more cohesive because they were world building and it dropped all at once. Season 2 felt a bit odd. Like it was supposed to be 12 episodes. And the first half of the season saw a lot of fan service because they have to address the elephant in the room (FNV).

- Reposted by Clayton OppenhuizenSo. Abolish ICE is the message that won this primary and Rep Grijalva won on the Epstein Files discharge vote. All the proof you need that the Senate Dems who fold on anything but abolish are not representing the voters. Pretty clear message here.
- INBOX: the Democratic National Committee is forced to delete a premature congratulatory message to former Rep. Tom Malinowski in the #NJ11 special election primary to succeed Gov. Mikie Sherrill this morning. DSA member Analilia Mejia, running on abolishing ICE, took the lead late last night.

He didn't need to make money, he just needed to connect the most powerful people on earth and get some leverage on them. He baited them in with underage girls and it worked. Gross.
- Epstein had many known connections to Silicon Valley CEOs, but less known was how he made money from those relationships. We did a deep dive into how he got dealflow in Silicon Valley, giving him shots to invest in Coinbase, Palantir, SpaceX and other companies. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/05/b...

- Don't succumb to identity reductionism. There are many books about this, Ramos's is perhaps the most recent popular one.
- Reposted by Clayton OppenhuizenProbably a good chance to remind people that the identity reductionism that became common in the 2010s is as hazardous as class reductionism, and for many of the same reasons.

- Reposted by Clayton OppenhuizenThis morning, federal agents staged at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center lot and began to throw chemical irritants at observers. They also kidnapped an observer. - A few things: I hope this house has good issues in perpetuity; I hope the project is very late and far over budget; and this is why I don't get pleased when I hear "have ICE and local law enforcement coordinate" in the aftermath of Minneapolis. It just means the latter runs cover for the former.

- Reposted by Clayton OppenhuizenUntil 9/11, you could cross into Canada from Detroit with a driver's license. You're supposed to show your birth certificate or passport, but 9 times out of 10, they'd wave you through. 9/11 and the Bush admin's "War on Terror" changed everything. Can't remember the last time I've been to Windsor.
- The author disabled quotes. For a very long time you did not need a passport to cross back and forth to Mexico and Canada. I am Gen X and El Paso folks my age remember crossing to drink in Mexico for the night and then coming back home. There are families who continued living in the same place when the border moved.

- Reposted by Clayton OppenhuizenSo an odd thing here is that if you say "an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume" your point is to communicate "it is not really Batman" but the problem is that the real Batman, within the fiction of the comic book "Batman", is also, literally, an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume
