- ICE out of Ithaca! Join us tomorrow at the Bernie Milton Pavilion at 4pm.
- It’s very cold, and so it’s a perfect day to get rid of ICE!
- Reposted by Cornell AAUPTexas A&M ends its women's & gender studies program while hundreds of syllabi remain flagged and censored under top-down review policies. “I have never seen anything like this.” — Dr. Leonard Bright, @tamu-aaup.bsky.social President @texasaft.org @texasaaup.bsky.social @cwa-tseu.bsky.social

- Reposted by Cornell AAUPFamilies dig deep to pay for the rising cost of college. They expect an education that prepares them to think critically & lead in a changing world. Professors must defend the student learning experience from politicians that wish to limit classroom learning to a narrow ideological viewpoint.
- Reposted by Cornell AAUPEducation is a public good for all. When politicians censor classroom teaching in order to narrow the field of topics that students can engage in, they rob them of a stellar world class education. This is what is happening at Texas A&M & other institutions in the state. 🧵
- Reposted by Cornell AAUPMore than a year in this has mostly gone as I feared, and in some ways has been worse. But there have been two contrasting surprises: -- The speed and breadth of institutional capitulation -- The courage, ferocity, and resolution of regular people Our strength isn't our institutions. It's us.

- Reposted by Cornell AAUPIf people have to tell a more honest story about George Washington it means they have to tell a more honest story about America. And if they have to tell a more honest story about America it means they have to tell a more honest story about themselves. And many people simply don’t want to do that.

- Reposted by Cornell AAUPI met an absolutely lovely academic who asked whether my department back home is affected by ICE -- a question dramatizing how little info is getting out. For the record, the small example I chose: My dept has a carpool to pick up grad students of color who can't safely commute to campus alone.

- Reposted by Cornell AAUPIt's good to use the resources at hand to fight because sometimes you win. Also, I keep thinking of the period after this man was killed and how a group of people tried to impose a new social reality. It didn't work. This too is a lesson.

- Reposted by Cornell AAUPI think it’s important to insist on recalling, at all available opportunities, that this was specifically an attack on a trans instructor over an assignment about gender. Neither of those details are incidental; they are the center of the story
- If you’re wondering why your friends in academia are a little on edge right now, it’s because an eighteen-year-old who hasn’t done the reading, doesn’t look at the assignment, and has does no critical thinking skills more complex than “because I think it’s in the Bible” can literally end your career
