- 2) In 2022, Cyprus’s Supreme Court overturned a controversial conviction against a British woman previously found guilty of falsifying gang-rape allegations against 12 Israeli tourists. Her case highlights deeper systemic issues within global party tourism.
- 3) We use the 2019 Cyprus rape allegation case to unpack how sexual & gender-based violence thrives in tourism spaces and why it’s silenced. Party resorts create ‘tourism bubbles’: liminal spaces where everyday norms break down—and where profit, pleasure, and patriarchy rule.
