- Thank you to MP Wera Hobhouse for using her brilliant Jane Austin speech in Parliament to call for greater equality for women in education. Only around 5% of GCSE pupils studied a text written by a woman for English literature in 2024. @werahobhouse.org.uk

- Eagerly awaiting the launch of Labour’s plan to tackle the national emergency of violence against women and girls next week. It’s looking like there will be a focus on prevention, boys and the school curriculum. However we fear a gender balanced curriculum will be overlooked once again.

- A historian’s reflection on the Curriculum and Assessment Review. Disappointingly more female representation and perspective was not explicitly mentioned in the report for History or any other subject. The Historian sets out how she’d fix this.
- We are deeply concerned that the Curriculum and Assessment Review report fails to address the invisibility of women and girls in what is taught in schools. We submitted evidence showing that male perspectives dominate every subject, sending the message that men's contributions matter more.

- Nihal gets it. Women should be included in history lessons - it helps boys develop empathy and understand women’s perspectives. Check out our new research into the History curriculum - endsexisminschools.org.uk/campaign-pro... @therealnihal.bsky.social @katemossewriter.bsky.social

- As we launch our report into the History curriculum the wonderful @katemossewriter.bsky.social has published Feminist History for Every Day of the Year, which celebrates women and girls of the past and the present. - Including more women and girls in the taught curriculum will help keep working class girls engaged in school and show them what they can become.
- Reposted by End Sexism In Schools“59% of history lessons at key stage 3 did not mention women at all” and “when women were mentioned, the report found they were more often victims than protagonists, with the women murdered by Jack the Ripper more likely to be taught […] than the female code breakers at Bletchley Park”
- Thank you to @theguardian.com for covering our report into what’s taught in History lessons at Key Stage 3. Spoiler: mostly men. It’s time to end sexism in schools.

- We’re launching the results of our research into gender balance in the History curriculum today. The report - The Great History Heist: Reclaiming Women’s Place in the History Curriculum - found only 12% of History lessons feature women as their main focus. 59% featured no women at all.

- NEW RESEARCH Manopolies: How the education system embeds sexism in GCSE English Literature. Only 5% of students studied a female authored text at GCSE in 2024. And there is no incentive to pick female authored texts. We uncovered that no education body is monitoring diversity in the curriculum.
- It was inspiring to hear so many people sharing insights into how boys can be encouraged to prevent violence against woman and girls at the launch of this important new report by @evawuk We especially welcome the recommendation that 'whole of institution' approaches are needed.
- Delighted to welcome @inparenthesis.bsky.social as Author Supporters for the End Sexism In Schools charity. Rachael & Clare stand with ESIS in calling for 50% of whole, taught class novels and reading lists in schools to be authored by women, with 50% the lead protagonist being women and girls.
- Please nominate End Sexism In Schools for this. It only takes a minute 🙏
