Climate Analytics
Global climate science and policy institute working to accelerate climate action and keep warming below 1.5°C.
- Extreme heat is a rapidly intensifying public health and productivity threat in Germany, particularly in urban areas, demanding the nationwide scaling up of cost-effective adaptation measures. Read our new report with @worldbankgroup, @GFDRR openknowledge.worldbank.org/entities/pub...

- EU energy achievement unlocked: Renewables generated more electricity than fossil fuels for the first time in 🇪🇺. Solar grew by 20% for a fourth year running. Wind and solar generated more electricity than all fossil sources in 14 of the 27 EU countries in 2025. Via @ember-energy.org ⬇️
- NEW | Wind and solar generated more power than fossil fuels in the EU for the FIRST time ever. 🌪️ and ☀️ made up a RECORD 30% of 🇪🇺 electricity, up from 20% just five years ago. ember-energy.org/latest-insights/eur…

- More clear evidence from @wmo-global.bsky.social today that global temperatures continue to rise. There's still time to act — but only if governments rapidly pivot from weak and incremental steps to bold implementation of renewables, energy efficiency, and methane cuts.
- 1/4 New brief: Troubled Waters examines the risks and realities of blue carbon, increasingly promoted as a shortcut for offsetting emissions in high-emitting countries, and for unlocking climate finance in coastal and island states. climateanalytics.org/publications...

- As we celebrate 10 years of the #ParisAgreement, we look back at why 1.5°C was set as the warming limit. @billhare.bsky.social explains why 1.5°C is the legal, moral, and scientific boundary for the world – and what’s at stake if we ignore it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCWt...

- “The 1.5°C limit [for rising global temperatures] and the net zero goal have reshaped policy, finance, litigation and sectoral rules, helping to rewire how states, markets and institutions work,” @billhare.bsky.social told @theguardian.com.
- 10 years on – what has the #ParisAgreement done for us? Warming is new predicted to reach 2.6–2.7°C – about one full degree less than what was expected before Paris One degree sounds small. It isn’t.
- Ten years ago in Paris, governments agreed to limit warming to 1.5°C and get global GHG emissions to net zero in the second half of this century. Since then, they’ve adopted policies and targets that bring projected warming down one full degree less. Our blog outlines what must happen next.
- To commemorate 10 years of the Paris Agreement, we held an event on Dec. 10 with the French Embassy to Germany and @helmholtzklima.bsky.social in Berlin. Our Head of Science, Dr Melania Guerra, chaired a panel discussion exploring how to accelerate ambitious collective action.
- “Instead of messing with the science,Türkiye needs to focus on strengthening its climate policies and implementation so it can be a forward-looking host of COP31, helping the world deal with the climate crisis that everyone else seems to recognise,” @billhare.bsky.social told @climatechangenews.com.
- The world can still return to well below 1.5°C of warming this century if countries pursue the “highest possible ambition” in climate action, starting now. Here's what Climate Analytics' @neilgrant.bsky.social had to say recently at COP30. Read more: climateanalytics.org/publications...
- "Australia cannot continue to develop and expand fossil fuel exports and pretend it’s going to be a renewable superpower supporting a 1.5C limit" @billhare.bsky.social in @australia.theguardian.com #auspol #COP30 #fossilfuels #climate www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
- As COP30 comes to a close, read the statement from CA CEO @billhare.bsky.social. This COP did not deliver the bold fossil fuel phaseout roadmap needed, but it did nudge other goals forward. National leaders must now close the gap between promises and reality. climateanalytics.org/press-releas...
- Reposted by Climate Analytics2025 was again a severe #hurricane season with 4 major hurricanes (3 cat 5 hurricanes). In terms of accumulated cyclone energy (ACE) it was slightly above a normal season. Seasonal forecasts (including ours 🥳) predicted the ACE well this year 💪

- While climate leaders have conceded that the world is on track to overshoot this climate goal, @neilgrant.bsky.social told @apnews.com: “We have the tools to transition away from fossil fuels. Although the hour is dark, we still have agency.”

- Reposted by Climate AnalyticsREPORT: If governments were to implement the promises they made in 2023, to triple renewables, double energy efficiency, reduce methane by 2030 & beyond, they could ✅ significantly cut projected warming - by 0.9˚C ✅ cut warming rate by a third by 2035 and halve it by 2040 🔗 bit.ly/CAT_COP30_GST

- Tomorrow at #COP30, join us at the Evidence 4 Action pavilion for Rescuing 1.5°C, presenting the latest science and introducing the Highest Ambition Pathway, one which minimises overshoot and gets temperatures well below 1.5ºC before 2100. - Reposted by Climate AnalyticsThe IEA's first net zero scenario (NZE), published in 2021, showed emissions peaking immediately and falling to net zero by 2050. Today they published an update. Although we are behind on most things, solar and wind deployment moved EVEN FASTER than the first NZE suggested. A little ray of hope.
- “Backing renewables is a win-win for people’s wallets and the climate – in fact, all the different futures mapped out by the IEA have renewables growing faster than any other energy source,” said @billhare.bsky.social. “Renewables are now unstoppable," he said. gasoutlook.com/analysis/coa...
