- Look. He actually says "ackshully" and it's dreadful, just dreadful.
- Claw it back!
- Ugh. Long have I dreamed of taking the Empire Builder out to the Twin Cities, just for the heck of it. Other travel stuff kept coming up, and then my husband got laid off, so it's hard to see it happening soon, but: Someday.
- Axios had a story today about how hard Minnesota’s economy is being hit and how slow the recovery could be. So, I’m going to take this opportunity to say that if you want to support the Twin Cities, you should plan a visit for this summer, spend some money here, & see how amazing it is for yourself.

- Reposted by CassandraI taught a class on “hope” last year and the few theorists who’ve written on it all point out that hope is the harder choice - that despair is easy and too often fashionable

- I would prefer DHS and ICE be abolished together in one fell swoop, but I would maybe settle for destroying ICE first and then eliminating DHS in its entirety
- Reposted by Cassandra74% of Democrats support abolishing ICE, with 53% *strongly* supporting it, according to YouGov polling from last month. Weak calls for "reform" are coming from *elected* Democrats like Chuck, not the average Democratic voter.
- I hate it

- Reposted by CassandraThe reason "Abolish ICE" scares them so much is because it speaks to the power of political imagination. Our political imagination has been intentionally suppressed in favor of the stagnation and inertia of the short-term profit economy's political desires. This is existential as well as physical.

- Reposted by Cassandrayeah, the strategic battle is over legitimacy and popular support. nonviolence doesn't make you safe from a violent regime, but it does visually clarify to bystanders who the villain is, and undermines their legitimacy and popular support in proportion to how thuggish the repression they can see is
- A thing I deeply appreciate about Mastodon and could really use on Bluesky
