- Reposted by Christa BueckerIntrigued by a long-standing conundrum in small RNA biology—how nuclear Argonaute proteins silence transposons when they *need* target transcription for their own recruitment—we studied the piRNA pathway. And found a hidden RNA-decay axis from Piwi to the RNA exosome.
- RNA decay via the nuclear exosome is essential for piwi-mediated transposon silencing biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/20…

- So deserved! Congratulations, @plaschkalab.bsky.social
- I get it, 90% of students writing to enquire about a research possibility will use ChatGPT. But at least don't end it with Sincerely, [Your Name] I am just so over these emails that say do little, are so generic and just try to flatter me.
- I made an entry in my calendar labelled "Meeting on" I have a slight recollection that it was important and I blocked three hours for it. But I have no idea who I will be talking to, whatever this is about.

- This is probably my favorite paper of 2025. Beautiful work by @elphegenoralab.bsky.social and @karissalhansen.bsky.social that should be on the top of the reading list for everyone with even a slight interest in gene expression!
- Bah, who needs cohesin if you're at the right place (near). Grover once taught us the difference between near and far (my favourite Sesame Street piece), and now amazing work from @elphegenoralab.bsky.social led by @karissalhansen.bsky.social shows us how: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

- Really excited to see this out in the open: www.life-science-alliance.org/content/9/1/...! @isabellavoelkl.bsky.social explored and compared different in vitro developmental model systems to study ciliogenesis.
- Isa generated numerous KOs of either centrosome or cilia components and analyzed their role in the exit from naive pluripotency, in in vitro rossette assays and in gastruloids. On the way she discovered that simply differentiating the cells does not induce ciliogenesis.
