- Reposted by Charles HumbleSir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again. #Pinks #ProudBlue
- Reposted by Charles HumbleThe energy transition is happening, faster than many realize. This week, I look at how clean energy is surging, where we can get it wrong, why silence on climate is spreading, and what we can do. Read the full edition for the data, the stories, and practical ways to keep the conversation going:
- The excitement around ‘Moltbook’ is weird. It's basically the old fallacy of writing “I’m alive” on a piece of paper, photocopying it, and then saying ’OMG look what the photocopier says!”
- Human brains run on ~12-20 watts and sandwiches, while AI needs gigawatts. Could biology hold AI's future? I spoke with Dr. Ewelina Kurtys from FinalSpark about building computers from human stem cells, neural encoding, and the ethics of conscious systems.

- My wife and I went to see the wonderful “H is for Hawk” at the cinema this week. Fabulous acting particularly from Claire Foy, and a brilliant soundtrack from Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch (which kind of does the job of the inner monologue in the book). Loved it.

- @monkchips.com just trying to submit a talk to Monki Gras and can’t get Papercall to work. It says “ There were errors with your submission!” But if there are it isn’t telling me what they are! If you’re not already full I’d love to pitch a talk-two new ideas, one of which I have no idea how to do
- For my first sponsored article of 2026 I sat down with Kin Lane from @naftiko.bsky.social to talk about business capabilities and how language shapes our mental models. Kin is such a deep thinker and I found the conversation really interesting. #AI #APIs #AgenticAI #DomainDrivenDesign

- Apple's new UI guideline that recommends putting icons next to every single menu item is truly awful. So bad, in fact that MacOS Tahoe is the fist MacOS I've ever uninstalled. I'm back on Sequoia. Sequoia has lots of bad design choices but Tahoe really is legitimately terrible.

- Fun chat with Nathen Harvey for @gotocon.com Turns out using AI to write code faster often makes software delivery worse—because typing was never the bottleneck. AI amplifies what you already have: great systems get faster, broken systems just hurt more. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IKB...

- It is 2025 and iOS 26 still cannot add an MP3 to your music library. Am I the only person who finds this baffling? My music-writing partner and I send MP3s back and forth to each other all the time in between studio sessions but the process to get them on our phones is ludicrously cumbersome.
