- I shared early insights into subjective #stress trajectories over the #menstrualcycle from the first 26 participants and how they relate to affective symptom changes (very preliminary; data collection ongoing). 📈
- Excited for my talk at #WASAD2025! I’ll share some initial findings from my ongoing study, focusing on the trajectories of everyday life stress across the menstrual cycle and how they relate to premenstrual symptoms ✨ I’ll present at 10:15 at lecture hall 2. Come by! :)

View full threadOur plots currently suggest that in regularly cycling indiv. with varying degrees of premenstrual symptoms, perceived daily stress may follow a cyclical pattern, peaking in the late-luteal phase, with affective symptoms rising around the same time window. ‼️ note: these observations are preliminary..
- …and data collection is still ongoing. We’ll share a fuller update once the study is complete and we’ve conducted confirmatory analyses - likely within the next year 😊
- Plots made with the menstrualcycleR package from @clearlab.bsky.social’s lab - highly recommend it for continuous cycle modeling! Nagpal et al. (2025). doi.org/10.1016/j.ps...

- A heartfelt thank you to the @cogneuroend.bsky.social group for such an inspiring workshop on taboos in #womenshealth research! ❤️ Seeing so many women advancing science and clinical care in women’s health was incredibly motivating! …
- … I feel fortunate to have been part of it and to stand alongside so many brilliant young researchers as one of the recipients of the inaugural Gertrud Jungblut Award. Can’t wait to keep the conversations going! ✨
- Looking forward to contributing to this plenary session at #WASAD2025 in Munich on October 25 and to inspiring discussions!
- New in the #WASAD2025 scientific program! 📅 💼 „Everyday Life Stress“ @celinebencker.bsky.social will start off this plenary, chaired by Urs Nater and Andreas Schwerdtfeger with her engaging presentation on the trajectories of everyday life stress across the menstrual cycle ♀️👩
- How are #stress and premenstrual symptoms connected? And are those with a #trauma history more likely to have #PMS or #PMDD? 🌩️ Our systematic review & three meta-analyses combine evidence from 66 studies to explore these questions. Excited our work is finally out! ✨ 👉 doi.org/10.1192/bjp....
- What did we find? 🔍 Our review points to a relevant association between stress and premenstrual symptomatology: 🔺Higher stress is linked to more severe symptoms ⤴️ Stress peaks during the luteal phase in individuals with PMS/PMDD ⚡ Trauma history associated with more than double the odds of PMS/PMDD
- Feeling truly honored to have received an Early Career Award at #ICBM2025! Thank you to the International Society of Behavioral Medicine for recognizing my work!
- We are proud of our team member, Celine Bencker @celinebencker.bsky.social, who received the Early Career Award at the 18th International Congress of Behavioral Medicine #ICBM2025. Congratulations!
- Excited to share my work tomorrow morning at #ICBM2025 in the Reproductive Health session (10am, HS06)! ✨ Curious how stress and premenstrual symptoms are connected? I’ll be presenting results from a meta-analysis and first insights from my ongoing EMA study.
- Thanks to @celinebencker.bsky.social and the @stresslabvienna.bsky.social for the warm welcome and inspiring exchange in Vienna! I’m glad that our PMDD research opened up discussions on cycle-sensitive understanding of psychopathology - a perspective much needed for more individualized approaches
- Always a pleasure working with you, Sibel!
- Excited to be presenting at the SBSM annual meeting in Seattle today! I’ll be sharing findings from our meta-analysis on the association between premenstrual symptoms and (traumatic) stress. Looking forward to the discussions! #SBSM2025Seattle

- Had an inspiring day & engaging discussions with the members of the IRTG2804 in Tübingen. Amazing to see so many brilliant young scientists working on female reproductive mental health.👩🏼🔬 Looking forward to the exciting research outcomes and potential future collaborations! Thank you for having us! ✨

- Congrats! Such a great achievement!
- First time holding my book ✨ I had so much fun writing about the absolute miracle that is the first years of human development. For parents, practitioners and anybody interested in the latest research on early social, cognitive and emotional development 👶 Babies are the best 🫶

- This is so cool - and so important! I really enjoyed reading it!
- Thrilled to announce my first (shared) first-author paper! ✨👩🏼🔬 Our review dives into how progestagens, including progesterone and synthetic progestins, influence mood, stress, and cognition in females. 🧠 doi.org/10.1016/j.yf... The main takeaways? See below ⬇️

- Interesting question! While I’m not an expert in this area, I’ve come across some research suggesting possible links between PMDD and ADHD, potentially through shared neurobiological pathways. It’s a fascinating area, but more studies are definitely needed to clarify these connections!

- Same here!
- More research is needed to separate the effects of progestagens from those of estrogens 📈🧠✨💊
- - Diverse types of progesterone receptors are widely distributed in the brain 🧠 - Stress response systems may drive adverse reactions to progestagens ⚡️ …
- - Selective progesterone receptor modulation can alleviate premenstrual mood symptoms by stabilizing cycle-related progesterone fluctuations 💊〰️ - Progestagens offer neuroprotective benefits in Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain injury, and stroke ➡️ potential for targeted therapies 💊🧠 …
- 🚨 New Preprint Alert! 🚨 Excited to share our latest work: We conducted a systematic review & three multilevel meta-analyses exploring different aspects of the relationship between stress and premenstrual symptoms 📊 🔗 osf.io/preprints/ps... #preprint #metaanalysis #stress #pms #pmdd #menstrualcycle
