- It was a great community event. Thanks @ionopticks.bsky.social!
- Reposted by Chris AshwoodExcited to share our new paper and lipid- and protein-directed photocatalytic labeling method (POCA) just out in @natchembio.nature.com. tinyurl.com/2kcxuvvv. Big congrats to first author Andrew Becker and the whole team for launching our lab into the wild world of singlet oxygen interactomics.

- Starting off Day 2 at #LorneProteomics with a reflection on the life of Peter Roepstorff and his many foundational contributions to proteomics (including the fragmentation nomenclature).

- Say what you will about non-MS based proteomics, but check out that swag! It’s a pretty sweet alpha helix pin.

- On my way to Lorne, Australia for #LorneProteomics2026. Looking forward to seeing the latest proteomics and glycomics advances. I’ll be presenting our glycomics platform that more truthfully describes the glycome resulting in greater glycopeptide identifications. Happy to meet up if you’re there!
- Finally followed up on this. Certis is apparently 4x more sensitive (4x greater S/N for reserpine/chloramphenicol) and features a new scan mode: Directed Data-Dependent Acquisition. This scan type triggers product ion scans when defined precursor masses are detected above a specific threshold value
- (BioRxiv All) Influenza A virus infection perturbs host cell glycosylation: Glycosylation is critical for viral-host cell interactions in influenza A virus (IAV) infection, but we lack a comprehensive understanding of how IAV infection shapes the host glycoproteome and the… #BioRxiv #MassSpecRSS
- If you’re going to #ASMS2026 and are a student, it’s a great idea to apply for these. When I did my assistant work, I was lucky enough to assist with the polymer session, which meant I was paid to learn about Kendrick mass defects!
- With excellent cross-vendor comparisons in Skyline, where Sciex are doing quite well (check out those 15 min benchmarks), it is increasingly hard to understand why Sciex has stopped their funding for Skyline.
- Aside from the whisper network, how are #teammassspec finding out how much certain instrument models are down for (service delays, backordered parts, things breaking all the time, etc)?
- Reposted by Chris AshwoodA new study from Anthropic finds that gains in coding efficiency when relying on AI assistance did did not meet statistical significance; AI use noticeably degraded programmers’ understanding of what they were doing. Incredible.

- Nothing quite demonstrates trust like someone willing to follow my instructions to reset the instrument electronics on their personal MS, when I'm 1000's of kilometers away.

- If I remember correctly, this filled up fast last year. I expect it to be even faster this year, as Europe is becoming a more popular conference destination #teammassspec
- It is my great honor to announce that registration for the 7th ESCP Single Cell Proteomics Conference is now open: lnkd.in/e4iyiQjf With around 250 participants, it is one of the largest SCP conferences worldwide. We are also proud to announce that there is no participation fee for our conference.

- With everything going on right now, I’m foreseeing a lower European contingent for ASMS. I’ll still submit an abstract, but who knows what the state of the world will be in June.
- Got an Orbitrap-based mass spec that couldn’t do STORI/direct mass technology before (any aside from the UHMR and Tribrid Ascend)? This is a cool open-source implementation that even works on an Orbitrap Elite! #teammassspec

- For all the problems people have with reviewers sometimes, it is quite heartwarming to have someone read your work and give feedback/corrections that reminds you of being back in a big research group.

- MagNet (@resynbio.bsky.social) still looks like an overall winner in this study. Good to see it reproduced across 3+ studies.
