- I scooped up both these for Bandcamp Friday (along with this uurydon tape: uurydon.bandcamp.com/album/ocean-...)
- In some positive news, we developed a rapid and low-cost method to test for fluorochemicals (#PFAS, forever chemicals) and other contaminants in water. We achieve parts per trillion LODs in a few minutes! Hoping this leads to wider access to testing of water supplies pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
- Previously, getting detection down to parts per trillion levels would take us many hours using solid phase extraction. Now we can do it in a few minutes with a few cents worth of an adsorbent and desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry
- Shoutout to @shohelm.bsky.social for all the excellent work on this manuscript just accepted. It’s part of our series of work to detect, sequester, and destroy forever chemicals. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
- Today’s soundtrack for boxing up Christmas decorations. Things got more and more free as the day went on
- It makes me sad that I’ll soon have to take down this epic holiday light display that we made out of a dead tree stump. I’m tempted to keep the dead tree in place for next year…
- The final bundle of the IA11 reissue series just touched down and it’s a doozy. 2 of my favorite albums (Fly or Die II and Universal Beings) and a Deplume I hadn’t yet heard but now love. Universal Beings was my introduction to @intlanthem.bsky.social. Excellent choice for the 11th and final album.
- Since joining Bluesky I haven’t seen any #pizza discourse. I kinda miss the random food arguments at the other place, honestly… So I’m gonna try to kick it off posting my family’s go-to pizza order. We’re traditionalists. So we stick to the main toppings of pepperoni, green chile, and pineapple
- Incredible review of one of my favorite albums of the year, How You Been by SML (via @intlanthem.bsky.social). “By synthesizing all manner of history, theory, and experience, [SML] create complex, brand-new, brain-teasing compositions” By @gardenerjams.bsky.social pitchfork.com/reviews/albu...
- Cc: @vfmcneill.bsky.social @andrewpault.bsky.social @linseymarr.bsky.social @reobrien.bsky.social y’all are the main aerosol/ atmospheric folks I see on here, I’d be keen to get your thoughts
- Just posted to the rxiv and seeking feedback from the #chemistry community. We find extreme variability in controversial “spontaneous” microdroplet oxidation chemistry experiments, in some cases observing products below many instrumental LODs. We make recommendations to mitigate variability. (1/3)

- My pepper plants do not look well but they gave up another harvest. Probably their last. We have not had a frost here yet. It’s rare to be this deep in November and not have a frost.
- Incredible release day
- Next up, jaimie branch’s Fly or Die Live. Jaimie was an incredible innovator and improviser. It really shines on this album. BTW, International Anthem just announced a special reissue of Fly or Die II. Very excited for that
- I’m holed up sick, but music is the healing force of the universe, so I’m spinning lots of music to get better. First up, Ruler Rebel by Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah. The first in the centennial trilogy. Taking the next step in his stretch music philosophy.
- New Tortoise arriving just in time for the mood boost I really needed! The blue ‘seamount axial’ vinyl is even better than it looked online. Another gem from Tortoise and IARC
- Travels took me through Phoenix, so I stopped at @stinkweeds.com and the In Groove, two of my fave record shops in the country. Picked up some gems from Low, Charles Tolliver, Angel Bat Dawid, Marc Johnson, and Morton Subotnick. @intlanthem.bsky.social has their own section at Stinkweeds now!
- Shoutout @gardenerjams.bsky.social for this excellent review and for clueing me into this beautiful album by Flur, the London trio that “fuses composition and improvisation in a vaporous, polyrhythmic style somewhere between astral jazz and cosmic minimalism”. pitchfork.com/reviews/albu...
- Seeing all these semi trucks jamming up the road, burning a bunch of fuel makes me wonder if there’s a better way to transport cargo? Like maybe a single truck could pull a bunch of the cargo containers? And since there’s so many of them, maybe give them their own road.
