- Deep shame on every single media outlet, politician, and individual who cast doubt on the number of victims reported by the Gaza Health Ministry. They, too, have Palestinian blood on their hands.
- Looking forward to hearing you in Porto on Tuesday.

- Some Western states have recognised the State of Palestine. What is the point of doing so if they then accept everything Israel does in Palestine and in relation to it and, apart from some performative statements of condemnation, largely conduct their relations with Israel as "business as usual"?
- Watching the last sunset of 2025 in peace, while so many people, namely those in Gaza, are simply trying to survive, is a privilege. It doesn't change anything, but I haven't forgotten about them. I wrote something similar last year, but unfortunately, the world hasn't changed for the better.
- It seems absolutely insane to me to read so much news about the ceasefire while Gaza is still being bombed and Palestinians there are being killed. Also, I don't believe in conversations that do not include accountability for a genocide. All of this feels absolutely dystopian.
- Porto now. Free Palestine.
- Following Israel's interception of the humanitarian flotilla en route to Gaza, Colombia has expelled Israeli diplomats from the country.
- I have no words left to describe Trump’s plan for Gaza, immediately endorsed by the European Union and many of its member states, which offers no accountability for the ongoing genocide carried out by Israel and is couched in pure colonial language. Just shame.

- The ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza will go down in history as the greatest shame of our time.
- Reposted by Carlos AzevedoICE killed a father of three in Franklin Park a few days ago. They are snatching people at gas stations, at bus stops, and from their homes and cars, leaving screaming, panicked children in their wake. It is a nightmare, and when ICE has amassed 10,000 new agents, it could be the new normal.
- Reposted by Carlos AzevedoLegacy media and cable news reduced Trump's aggression against Chicago to a question of whether troops would be sent immediately. When he said he was taking his fascist military spectacle elsewhere, those media players declared the situation over—while waves of federal agents attack our neighbors.

- Each day, we learn of new horrors about the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Yet nothing seems sufficient to compel Western governments to take meaningful action to end it. They are dragging us, alongside Israel, to a point of no return.
- Reposted by Carlos AzevedoWhen people tell you that Israel is a democracy, they are also telling you that they don't view Israel's treatment of the Palestinians as disqualifying it from that classification. In other words, they are effectively telling you that they view Palestinians as sub-human.
- Reposted by Carlos AzevedoIsrael's treatment of Palestinian prisoners since 7 Oct is comparable to the worst dictatorships on earth. - the number keeps growing, and is now around 11k - close to 90% are held without trial - starvation as policy - rampant torture - dozens died in prison, no accountability

- Many thanks to everyone involved in the reviewing & publication process — editors, reviewers, & production team. Special thanks are due to Professor Rosemary Deem. Although she has not seen this article, since she examined my PhD, she has offered support & encouragement on several occasions. 2/2
- All Palestinians in Gaza are at imminent risk of starving to death — unless Israel bombs or shoots them first. Horrifying? Yes. That’s the reality in Gaza. And while this unfolds, so-called world leaders do nothing meaningful to stop the genocide.
- Portugal, my home country, opposed the inclusion of a reference to the Palestinians’ right to food in a joint declaration by the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). At this point, this equates to supporting the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
- Fifteen Palestinians died of suffocation after toxic gas was released into a crowd at a food distribution site in southern Gaza. Does the use of gas to kill people remind you of anything? The absolute monstrosity of this is beyond words.
- Even former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is now saying that Israel is, in fact, creating a concentration camp in Gaza. Why do political leaders around the world remain silent?

- Reposted by Carlos AzevedoStudents and citizens in #Serbia are being arrested, beaten, and declared enemies of the state for opposing Vučić's authoritarian regime. Academic colleagues anywhere in the world, please sign this petition in solidarity with them & spread the message.
- Yesterday, the world marked the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. The only thing that occurred to me was that we haven't learned anything from it.
- At least 15 Palestinians, including 10 children, were killed by an Israeli strike as they queued outside a medical point in central Gaza yesterday. We are witnessing an unbearable level of depravity.
- The United States, which imposed sanctions on four judges of the International Criminal Court, is now announcing sanctions on Francesca Albanese for, among other things, allegedly trying to pressure the Court. If the matter weren't so serious, it would almost seem like a joke 1/2
- worthy of a few laughs. In any case, full solidarity with Francesca Albanese. 2/2
- Israel is now building concentration camps in Gaza—I'll repeat: concentration camps—and no one is putting an end to it.

- To oppose the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinian children, women, and men is simply a matter of *moral clarity*. When we have moral clarity, we don’t care about baseless accusations because we know we are on the right side of history. 1/2
- However, moral clarity is precisely what most Western political leaders and media, among others, have lacked over the past 21 months. 2/2

- This image is taken from a short video I watched today. In it, thousands of starving Palestinians fight for food being thrown to them. These Palestinians are human beings fighting to survive. Those responsible for this no longer deserve to be called human.
- Above all, let's not forget why the twelve people aboard the Madleen were heading to Gaza: to break a siege imposed by Israel as it commits genocide through bombing, shooting, and the forced starvation of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
- Reem Zeidan, a Palestinian mother in Gaza, walked for hours with her son and daughter to an Israeli-backed distribution point, only to be killed by a single bullet to the forehead. Her children spent nearly three hours beside her body, pinned down by gunfire. 1/3
- Like Reem, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed by Israel over the past 20 months. Yet world leaders have done nothing meaningful to effectively bring this to an end. On the contrary, many, including senior European officials, have enabled it. 2/3
- We will carry this shame forever, and we deserve to. Full story here: www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...
- Germany’s foreign minister said today in Berlin, with Israel’s foreign minister by his side, that recognising the Palestinian state would send the wrong signal. Germany is heading towards the abyss for the second time in less than 100 years. There can be no forgiveness.
- According to UNICEF, Israel has killed or injured over 50,000 children in Gaza. Those attempting to justify this have lost their humanity.
- Lisbon today.

- Yesterday, Israeli forces again have again opened fire on Palestinians at food distribution points. At least 27 were killed and 90 injured. So this is why they insisted on controlling the distribution of food.
- Reposted by Carlos AzevedoShow up in solidarity with the #freedomflotilla tonight!
- More than 30 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire today while receiving food at an aid distribution point. After blocking food from entering Gaza for more than two months, Israel is now using food as bait to kill people.
- Dr Alaa al-Najjar’s husband, Dr Hamdi al-Najjar, who was also wounded in the same Israeli airstrike that killed nine of her ten children, died yesterday. This woman from Gaza, who has been trying to save lives for almost 20 months, has now lost nearly all of her close family. 1/2
- No words can express what one feels when witnessing this. 2/2
- Reposted by Carlos AzevedoI donated, if you can spare even a tenner, please consider doing so.

- The city of Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain) has cut ties with Tel Aviv and the Israeli government. The Autonomous University of Barcelona has also cut ties with Israeli universities.
- According to the UN, Gaza is the "hungriest place on Earth," with all its people at risk of famine, and the mission to deliver aid is "one of the most obstructed aid operations in recent history." This has been caused by Israel, but it's a shame for the entire world.
- What’s happening in Gaza right now isn't humanitarian aid — as someone said, it's Israel's own version of the Hunger Games. No one is suffering like the Palestinians, not even close. But as human beings, this degrades us all.
- Zadie Smith signed an open letter calling Israel's actions in Gaza genocide. When tens of thousands of Palestinians had already been killed, she wrote a piece in the New Yorker calling for "nuance." Now she's trying to save her reputation. 1/3
- Like Smith, many others—academics, journalists, politicians, etc.—supported or remained silent for almost 20 months, only beginning to speak out when it felt safe to do so, because some political leaders did the same. 2/3
- I'm pragmatic, so it's better to have them speaking, but that doesn't change the fact that they're servants who need permission from power to do the right thing. 3/3
- I'm at a loss for words, except to say that we are witnessing the most absolute evil.
- 14,000 Palestinian babies may die in the next 48 hours. The UN has reported that lorries carrying baby food and nutritional supplies are at the Gaza border, but Israel is not allowing them to enter. How is it possible that no one has taken effective action to stop this?
- Far-right Chega could become the second-largest political force in Portugal after today's elections. Portugal, like any former colonial empire, is a deeply racist country. As a Portuguese, I'm saddened by this, but there's no point in denying it. What matters is that we fight it.
